Many people have been wondering what is going with Ruiner and its progress. Its has been a bumpy ride for the last 6 months, but everything is starting to turn around.
Since our last news post my modding time went down to almost nothing because as you guessed it; real life. During this time no work was done on Ruiner. I only did a few small quick projects for other games. While the time I can spend modding is no wheres near the amount it was before, it is enough to start doing some work again.
Before the long absence we were working on finishing and redoing parts Ruiner's levels. The mod also needed another 30+ animations to be finished. However, this wasn't a realistic task to accomplish with 2 people modding less than their normal mod hours in a short period of time. Our goal originally was to get this mod out the door a few months ago. With real life coming, that was not going to happen. We also did not want to spend yet another year+ working on the mod.
Now that everything is starting to gear up, we have been able to look at all the work done and decide what is best to get this mod out without quitting it or just releasing an unplayable pack of assets. The levels are being worked on once again. This time however we are taking a different approach. Instead of revamping and expanding many of the maps to a perfect shine; we are going to get them running smoothly, populate them and put all the scripting needed together. The result will end up cutting the length of the levels by various amounts.
Current discusions are underway on how to handle the bucket of animations, Gui's and small coding elements needed. Our next news post might deal with this subject.
To help hold everyone over while we get everything back in gear around here; the long promised Ruiner trailer and gameplay video are now up!
Cheers & enjoy
