Detailed description of the Tsardom of Bulgaria roster.

Greetings! Today I will covering the stats and availability of the Tsardom of Bulgaria roster in Roar of Conquest: The Late Middle Ages, overhaul mod of Medieval II. This article should help those who are curious to have a better understanding of how the Tsardom's roster will perform in battle and when certain units will become available in the campaign.

Note: The stats you see here have been updated for Roar of Conquest: The Late Middle Ages VI. Now onto the details!


The Tsardom of Bulgaria

Bulgaria boasts a strong roster with little to no weaknesses. With strong infantry to hold the battle line and excellent cavalry to charge and harass the rear and flanks, the enemies of Bulgaria will have much to fear when facing them in battle! For reference, the unit sizes I will be listing here are when the game is put on 'ultra unit size', Secondary Melee Attack represents the secondary weapon cavalry units use after completing a charge, and the acronym AP stands for armor-piercing. Glory to the Tsar, on to war!

1) General's Bodyguard

The bodyguard unit for your characters and generals in the early campaign. A study unit, but not invincible; be careful with them in battle.

2) Woodsmen

While not professional soldiers, these men are a useful early-game unit for dealing with armored enemies

3) Spear Militia

Slightly more useful than peasant infantry with their spears, Spear Militia are good for padding out armies or maintaining public order in settlements.

4) Slavic Spearmen

A sturdy spear unit, good for holding the line while the rest of you army does the killing.

5) Levy Archers

Cheap archers, useful for volume of fire on lightly armored targets but little else.

6) Magyar Cavalry

Fast and deadly with the bow, these horsemen are ideal for harassing enemy forces, but are quite vulnerable to return fire or melee.

7) Senior Rus Militia

These men serve as sturdy spearmen, holding the line against enemy attacks and defending settlements on your borders.

8) Slav Militia

While these men do not have the greatest defense, they hit hard for a militia force, and have decent morale to stick in a fight longer than most militia forces.

9) Crossbow Militia

10) Senior Rus Militia

This light cavalry is useful for charging down enemy archer and chasing off routing units from the battlefield.

11) Bulgarian Spearmen

12) Bosnian Archers

20) Slavic City Guard

While not having the offensive output of Slav Militia, these men are more suited for holding the line, and are effective at striking down armored enemies with their battle axes.

21) Heavy Boyars

An elite shock cavalry, this unit becomes more readily available later on in the campaign, replacing the Boyars after the Full Plate Event, (year 1380-1400).

A deadly hybrid unit, these men are skilled are shooting down enemies from range or striking them down in melee with their large axes.

26) Pikemen
