2016

2016 is almost over time for a brief look back at the year that was before moving on to next year.
The year started with Beta 0.25's release and the debut of Erebor.
January was also the beginning of the Great Balancing/Initiative a long haul plan to rebalance the mod and bring all factions in line with update designs and mechanics.
It saw the introduction of the new Expansion systems like Reinforcement, Industry Expansion and Specialisations.

The year also saw the introduction and release of the Free Peoples faction within a very short time.

It also saw some big changes with factions being announced like Morgul and other factions being merged like Lindon and Arnor.

The Initiative being the main focus with 2016 serving as a sort of transition period for the mod as it moves towards moving out of Beta with Version 1.0.

It also saw the release of the Final Beta serving as the building block for versions between now and the release of 1.0.

Initiative

Shortly after New Years I will be releasing a special beta for Return of Shadow the Initiative Edition.
This release will be the culmination of the last year's work with large balance changes and new mechanics.
The Initiative Edition will include all the planned balance changes originally planned for Beta 0.3 but not any new factions.
This will include the Horde and CP changes recently announced, a lot of balance changes including the introduction of the new balance scheme introducing Champion units, new Specialisations and Expansion systems for some factions, the shiny new leadership types and the newly updated Horn of War (Home Defence).
Stewards will also be making their public debut.

However some of the more recent features won't be included such as the new Renown system, Legacy Heroes or Steward Powers (Stewards will level up to rank 4 for now).
