Good day, and welcome to the first update of the year 998.M41! Or, 2010 to the inhabitants of Terra.

We have a massive barrage of updates for you. Over the Christmas and New Year period, a break was issued by Dreganius, aka Inquisitor Daedalus. The RenX40k team earned the right to partay. However, loyal servants of the Emperor as they are, they still worked over this period! After fighting off the after-effects of Syntha-hol bingeing, of course.

First on our list for updates is a new weapon! Although it has a little way to go in the texturing department, it's 90% finished and ready for show! A while back, when we posted up LoneHunter's Lasgun, Garfusa2 made a comment, which LoneHunter took in and worked on.

Garfusa2 wrote: And why always the cadian pattern lasgun...why not make a new pattern!

He has since been working on a Tirean pattern Lasgun.

Introducing, the Tirean Pattern M3 Sub-Lasgun! I like to call it the SLG.
Why SLG, you ask? Well, Tirean Pattern M3 Sub-Lasgun is too hard to say in conversation, son.
That and it also has its designs based on 20th century SMGs. Modeled and designed by LoneHunter, textured and rendered by Dreganius, the SLG has a small scope, similar to modern-day ACOG scopes, and a grip at the front of the weapon, for increased aim. However, the Tirean SLG has a smaller clip and a much smaller range than the Cadian Lasgun counterpart, and thus the Tirean Imperial forces still use both. Anyway, enough chat, on to the picture!

Now, moving on to the next weapon. Our Lead Modeler, Commissar Kiory, has decided to give texturing his Boltgun a go. He has made a commendable effort, and his skill in modelling quality models fast is invaluable. But here's his Bolter, with his texture:

Next up we have another weapon, the Chainsword! This is the most common weapon used by Imperial units who have an intention to charge in to close quarters melee combat. Modeled by the Commissar, Kiory, it even has the animation for the blades!

With just some of the new weapons done, I would like to move on to characters. Firstly, we have Kiory's WIP Imperial Guardsman. It's lacking accessories at the moment, but still, it's looking good!

Kiory is working on some Space Marines, and you should see some amazing Marines in next month's updates. But for now, here's the WIP for his Grey Knight Space Marine!

And now, lets move on to our vehicles. LoneHunter has been working so hard on 3 very amazing new vehicles. Firstly, we have the Artemia pattern Hellhound flame tank. Artemia and Graia had very close trade relations with Ziongane, and thus shared the Artemia and Graia pattern schematics. On arrival to Tirea IV, the Artemia pattern was continued, but the Graia pattern was not.

Next is LoneHunter's Basilisk. The Basilisk is the Imperium of Mankind's main mobile Artillery platform. It can fire shells indirectly over terrain, or more accurately if directly fired. The shots do massive damage. However, the higher the elevation of the cannon, the higher the scatter of the shells.

Now, time for the new Chimera, by LoneHunter!

Next we have Kiory's Sentinel walker. It can walk over almost every terrain, and although it's fragile, it can deal a fair bit of damage. It can be equipped with an Autocannon, a Heavy Flamer, or upgraded at a price with a Lascannon. This WIP is missing its weapons, but they're on their way!

Moving on from pictures, its the time of year again where ModDB's Mod of the Year competition is up for votes! Every vote for our mod would be appreciated so much, and will bring us more publicity. That publicity will inspire us to work even faster! Winning prizes is just a bonus; we at RenX40k see the competition as a morale booster and an excuse to get more publicity!
If you do like what you've seen so far, then why not vote for us? We'd appreciate it, and work all the harder for it!

"The first phase of the voting has begun. From December 20th to January 5th, you will vote for the Top 100 mods of the year. On January 6th, a second phase of voting will begin for Mod of the Year."
Every vote we get in both of these phases helps build a better 40k mod! Also remember to check out the other 40k mods out there, and Renegade X, the mod that we based our own mod off.

Lastly, there is talk on our team about 3 things. Firstly, we are considering changing the name of our mod in the coming months to Warhammer 40,000: Black Universe, as work progresses away from the whole Renegade theme, as we are adding so many other elements that the line between being based on Renegade and using our own elements begins to blur. In fact, only one game mode out of the 3 or 4 proposed in Multiplayer uses Renegade's All Out War, one we call Only War. As our fans, you will be given a lot of notice about our name change.

Secondly, it has been decided that we will begin working mostly on the Single Player mode up until its public release, and then work on the Multiplayer. Details about the Single Player mode, such as the storyline, have been written up, but the information is currently Classified. We will release more information in the following weeks, and I am sure you will all very much love it!

Third, Commissar Kiory is planning to make a few podcasts about how he does what he does best; 3D Modeling. Stay tuned next month for more information!

Thank you all for tuning in today! Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year!
Thought for the Day: Carry the Emperor's will as your torch, with it destroy the shadows.

Is it the sub-lasgun is too hard to say in conversation part?
Like when Sarge says that its a warthog because its easier to say.

Winner! Indeed it is.

Sarge: "This is the M-12 LRV! I like to call it the Warthog"
Simmons: "Why Warthog sir?"
Sarge: "Because M-12 LRV is too hard to say in conversation, son."
