GameRanger or Radmin VPN? Pros and Cons

In this article I mainly want to talk about two programs that allow us to play Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood online. We'll discuss both of program's Pros and Cons. Pros will be good things about the program, cons will be the bad things. Let's get it started!

Radmin VPN

Pros:

  • Good ping (green ping mostly)
  • Can play COJ with Steam Users (GameRanger can't do that)
  • Unlimited rooms
  • Supports all LAN games (if there's a lan in a videogame, you should be able to join with Radmin easily)
  • Not breaking your network (like Hamachi does)
  • Easy to navigate

Cons:

  • Not too many people in the lobbies for some games (CoJ BiB for example)

Radmin is perfect for playing with Steam users as mentoined previously.

How to join Radmin Network? There's already tutorial for that, but i'll quickly shorten the way:

4 1

First open Radmin VPN and head into "Network"

2 1

Then click "Join the network"

3 1

After that, type this and join our Radmin VPN lobby:

name: COJ_bib

password: cojbib123

Additionally:

  • You can join the public network. Click "Public Networks" or "Player Networks" and search for COJ BiB and join. You'll join instantly without needing an password

And it's all done. You can now either host a LAN game in Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, or find a game if somebody's hosting. If you can't find a game, click on a user in the network (right click) and select "Ping" - you'll ping the person and it might help you connecting to that person if other ways don't work

GameRanger

Pros:

  • Big playerbase
  • Dedicated servers for some LAN games
  • Easy to navigate
  • Cool rom features (such as description, allowing only premium players to join etc)

Cons:

  • Router NAT Problem prohibitng some players from joining / hosting games on GameRanger
  • Sometimes, even if you joined a lobby you can't find it (ex.: Flatout2)
  • Pings varies according to location of the host / server (while Radmin has its own generated IP that thinks you're in the same "lan network" so you should have green ping mostly)
  • Doesn't support all games
  • Doesn't allow playing with users that own Steam game copies (i dont know if all games have that)
  • Registration (you don't need to give out details for Radmin VPN, you just install the software and play)

Tutorial how to setup a GameRanger lobby, or join an existing one can be found here: Moddb.com

I hope users will join Radmin VPN and play even more COJ Multiplayer or other games too!
