What's New?:

Since our last update, the Evolved Horizon team has been working hard at creating assets and planning out gameplay for Quarantine. As you know, this is our first weekly update and we hope to bring you one every week. If an update will be a little late then we will make a comment on the mod's profile page so you know. Anyways, I would like to let everyone know what we are currently working on with Quarantine.

Models (W.I.P. or Ingame)
Weapons:
- The Spas-12 is ingame and running, needs a little fix here and there though.
- The M16 is in its early stages of being ingame. I guess you can say it is at a beta phase or just between alpha and beta.
- The MP5 just needs a texture and then it is ready to be put ingame. The UVW is done as well.
- The Glock 19-C is ready to be exported to be ingame.
- The M14 is ready to be exported as well.
- The Beretta just needs a texture and then it can be exported as well I believe.

Structures:
- The Main Facility is coming along nicely, glass has been placed all around the structure. Some more modeling has been done to the interior. We will have more images next week.
- The Worker's Lodge has been getting some interior work on it. The overall structure is complete but the kitchen counter-tops and cabinets are being made.
- The Corner Store for the Prio-Tech employees has been started.
- The Security Check structure (where vehicles are check before entering the compound) is complete and is currently being textured.

Vehicles:
- The King Air 200 Aircraft is currently being modeled.

If you're using the old M16 (triangular grips) then the handle is part of the upper receiver and should not be a different colour to the rest of it.
I assume you've just not textured the rest yet but I thought I'd better point it out just in case.

Those weapons could really do with a nice normal map. Other than that, good work lads. :D

For this grafic-level you don't need the Cryengine 2, maybe not even the first one.

If you're going by the graphic level in the M16 shot then that's only tempory, our environment is going to be much more dense with architecture that will require the rendering abillities of CryEngine 2

FYI: The M16 shot is taken inside a bare map on my computer, which cannot handle the dense environments of stock Crysis maps (or any Crysis-level maps at all) at the level of detail I need to take decent screenshots. A crude option, but the only one available to me at the time.

As for the graphics detail of the M16, that's being taken care of.

Looks cool, but I'm just curious as to why even use the M-16. The M-16 A1 is known around the world as being one of the worst weapons ever. It was never intended for use as the main weapon of the US military and was actually purchased for US air force security forces. But, someone got a big bonus to sign a 50 year contract with colt and we've been stuck with the M-16 series weapon every since. It's gotten better over the years and I've never had a real problem with my M-4, other than the double feed caused by the magazine design.

Still, I'm just wondering why use a weapon that is pretty much extinct in any modern military?

Let me help you out a bit with that:

1. There is no military force on the island, just a research company with a small security installment.
2. The mod is a horror, action adventure type mod so we would like to complement that with old, unreliable weapons hence using an M16 in general. Having the first of its kind makes it that much better.

When deciding to use a M16 and what version we all knew about how unreliable the weapon was so don't worry about informing us lol, extra info does not hurt though. Anyways the older style of M16 is just a good option for a small security force in the mod.

The whole decision to use the first generation is based on the style of this mod and the story. Aslo that the mod is not based around 2009 but in the 90's.
