Hail all - version 4.9 of Point Defense Systems, a modification of Homeworld 2, has been released, with the following changes/feature additions.
1. Capital class flight models [FMs] overhauled
This eliminates the "RTS feel" of units having a "move to point, stop, turn, move" feel.
The new capital class FMs provide a measure of momentum to match the vessels' tonnage, providing a far more natural, and cinematic appearance while improving gameplay farther from greater maneuvering leeway. This also prepares the battlespace for the next generation of capital-class fast combatants and their maneuver-centric doctrines. Not to mention needing you to think in advance on mission planning. Not easy to reverse momentum of a quarter-million-ton [or much more] behemoth.
Frigate-class FMs have also been optimized, with the Hiigarans' close combatant FFs being able to execute high-G escape maneuvers to break contact on command.
2. Tier III Hiigaran cruiser armaments refit
In light of the BCV Defiance's wartime loadout, the Prince of Hiigara-class Battlecruisers were subjected to an armaments refit, to the specification documented below in this gallery image:
3. Many other improvements that are too small to be in this news posting.
