Greetings EF Fans,
This is the first of the update series sneak peaks for the new Axis Faction, Ostheer (literally translation "Eastern Army").
The current plan is to release these every month.
Today we will cover the Ostheer's Buildings. Yes we know, nothing interesting, but we have to start somewhere.
The HQ
The HQ of the Ostheer is, like most other armies, located in a local house, generally a farmhouse. From here you can upgrade your base and recruit your building/repair unit.
Infanterie Gruppen Post
You can recruit infantry support here. The Infanterie Gruppen Post is the backbone of your army; this building allows you to call in your early support units and basic infantry units, such as the Landser.
Schutzen War Camp
Your first step into modern, mechanized warfare. The Schutzen War Camp have a wide list of specialized support and assault units. One of the units in this building that you can build is the Panzer II Ausf. L "Luchs".
Panzer Kampf Kommand
The Best of the German Steel is ready to steamroll the enemy forces. The Panzer Kampf Kommand is where you can call in your tank reinforcements. All tanks reinforcements requested from the Kampf Kommand comes off-maps when they arrive. For example, you can request the Panzer III Ausf. J from here.

Your? There were hundreds if not thousands suggestions to put p3 and its kinda obvious without a suggestion...
Many mods have wanted to add the Panzer III, one version or another, it's just there aren't too many talented people around with the skills to do it, and even fewer who are willing to redo work someone else has done. It's just sad the the Eastern Front mod team likes to keep their content to themselves instead of releasing completed models individually to the community as their finished.
Well it's a good start on the Ostheer, and i look forward to seeing more of whats planned and some skinned renders in the future. Any chance of EF adding some new infantry models to the Ostheer like they did for the Soviets?
Yeah you're right, it a community and they should help each other out. It's not like its a race or something, nobody is getting paid for anything, its a hobby - help each other out.
Changing subject, are the Ostheer buildings completely new or are they like the same from WM or PE (just like the Russian ones are from US). And will the Russians get new buildings?

coding and animating buildings seems to be either extremely time-consuming or impossible. and who wants to wait 2 more years or so just to get 4 new buildings? :D
Yes, we are actually aiming to have more custom models for the Ostheer infantry than the Soviet infantry. We need to be sure that Ostheer won't be mistaken for a mere reskin of the Wehrmacht faction from screenshots! Besides, the Ostheer are considerably more rugged and campaign-based than the west-European Axis factions, and this needs to be shown in the character and vehicle models.
And to wrap some loose ends up, we just don't release completed models individually because it is another thing to worry about, and quite frankly we would rather just make the mod with the very limited time that we do have. Also, simply releasing raw model files will just result in a helluva lot of raw plagiarism, which is the sad truth, but our modellers spend months of their freetime perfecting their artwork for EF, and it hurts when wannabe modders copypaste relentlessly into their 'own' mods.
However, we do help out genuine mod groups, for example N44 uses almost all of the models we made for EF. It isn't as simple as just 'keeping it to ourselves'.
yeah but cant I (for example) download EF and then search the models through the EF folders and copy them for my own "mod"?
The recycle building problem will hopefully be dealt with somewhere in the future, or atleast i hope so.
It is low on our priorities, but it is being looked into.
Bradenburgers any chance? because they could be like a doctorine unit or stealth unit.
Individual infantry units will be confirmed at a later date.

Btw. What's this fanboy thing like wether to play Eastern Front or Blitzkrieg? I personally play them both and love how they make CoH fun to play again.
