Greetings from your fellow horror connoisseur Dredile. This is the first media release for New Crypt! And before we start I would like to welcome to the team, crazyb2000, andy1318, and Sheepish! *insert applause here* welcome welcome, and now on to the cool story.
A month or two ago me and my co-leader Dr. Doozer sat down and had a talk about Crypt. What was working, what wasn't working, and we decided that there was more that wasn't working more then that was. So the question came up, how can we make Crypt better, and have a deeper experience for the community.
What we call Old Crypt was broken, bland, but very scary. So we decided that it would be in everybody's best interests if we started Crypt from the ground up. New Crypt was born, and so was our new founded determination in creating an immersible and unique experience for the players, you guys: we got the scares right in Old Crypt, we took that and gave it a better story driven, and atmospheric make-over.
Now you guys may be saying, "wait, does that mean Crypt is delayed?" or "Why couldn't you guys have done it better the first time, why can't you guys just make Old Crypt better???"
Question 1: A: Yes a bit, but not as much as you would think, we have a better way of creating the levels which is more efficient.
Question 2: A: We could've, but I didn't, Old Crypt isn't bad, its just not as good as it could be. And we think it would be better to start a fresh.
However this does mean that when the mod comes out we will also release Old Crypt as a scary map pack addon to Crypt! So you get more scare for your download.
Were sorry if this has disappointed any of you, but I know that even though we have only gotten 2 levels done for New Crypt: It is already 25 times better, its engaging, its terrifying, and its something I think every horror mod fan wants to play, and in terms of Old Crypt... Were never looking back.
