Why is this not available for preorder on steam? I won't even pre-order till you make it available on steam.

Because preordering now means 100% of your cash goes straight into the developers pockets. i'm also guessing they will give you the code to unlock it on steam once it is ready (could be wrong)

I see that there WILL be a steam version but you can't get the special edition or preorder right now if you want the steam version. It says assume that the online version you preorder will not include a steam unlock. That's EXTREMELY troubling because I want the early tools and beta/alpha access from the special version but I don't want to buy two copies. It's absolutely pointless not to have the steam version for any game if it's available and by not offering it on steam your defeating the purpose of centralized game access.

This makes me want to cry, do something about it. I guess i'll have to buy two copies of the game. So, if you want access to the special edition you have to pay $39.95 and then an assumed $19.95 for steam. So basically if you want to get into beta you have to pay out $59.90 to the company. What a rip off!

Most certainly will be getting my cash, steam or not...in fact i'd prefer if it wasn't a steam release, i'm sick of installing games through steam, and not being able to choose where to install to.

mate on the comment you have to buy 2 i think all you gotta do is preorder one :D if the box includes a cdkey or something like that you can put the key in the activate game in steam and then it registers to your account maybe i can try that when i pre order special btw does this ship around the world or just America cos i live in aus

Yes, Overgrowth is doing the same thing, they're having preorders and give you access to weekly builds and stuff, and you WILL get it on steam once it gets finished. This will most likely work in the same way.

Both of you are WRONG Read their website. What the hell is wrong with people I can't stand when they don't READ.

"NS2Website" wrote: Pre-order is stand-alone and will auto-update, but assume it doesn't include the Steam version.

If you preorder, it most likely does NOT allow you to unlock the steam version. F---ING READ NEXT TIME. I even mentioned it in my post!

So when will the game come out? Sorry i really didnt want to ask that question, but it says in the profile the release will be around fourth quarter. I mean, waiting that long to play something you preordered today must be a pain in the arse.

Heheheh. Note: Savage 2. The people that preordered were not able to play for more than a year after buying the game. I was one of them. It wasn't that big of a deal. :P

Can you tell me what this means:
Pre-order is stand-alone and will auto-update, but assume it doesn't include the Steam version.

Does this mean the Steam version will be a separate version? Why wouldn't you make use of the Product Unlock function in steam using a cd-key. please! don't let us buy the game twice! :( I want the Special Edition and the Steam version..

Ow btw does this mean the steam version doesn't contain the special black marine suit..?! doh! -_-

Looks nice, but there are not enough stuff to see, off what i could make my mind up to buy this, and second, why should i play at least 20 bugs for a beta? Thats just an uppity thing. Maybe you should release a demo, or such a free-weekend action, so people can learn about it.

We actually don't know if we will be able to link our own pre-orders to Steam copies. I've heard some other games are doing this though so I'm inquiring with Valve about it now.

Sorry about the confusion!

man, that would be really lame if they don't link.

Oh well. Count me in, even if it does get miffed by Steam.

Thank you, you've just corrected half the morons in this post that have tried to correct me. I appreciate your post maybe some people will actually learn to read.

As I said before, if you want the special edition and a steam copy you have to shell out 60 bucks. That's not cool at all. Buying games not on steam is absolutely pointless.

Null, Flayra is a NS2 dev. If he can swing a connection between pre-orders and Steam, he will.

From their site:
Unlimited Variations

WYSIWYG graphical tools and powerful scripting allow you to create new weapons, scenarios or entirely new games. You'll get all our tools and Lua source code we're using to build NS2. Ongoing automatic updates keep the game fresh by adding new maps, weapons and abilities.

Torgue - that is soooo cool! As these guys are modders originally, so I guess they will create better modding tools than any of the big developers. Plus, this engine looks very good and would give way to a lot of interesting mods, I think.

They are the original designers behind NS1. So, they're not new. But still, some seriously pro looking stuff.
