Post news RSS Nothing to see here... just an interview... and a video

After more than a month of silence, we pop our heads out of the rabbit hole to bring you some brand-new footage of chapter 2, and some more details on the rest of the mod!

Hello fans of ModDB, on this beautiful Cinco de Mayo holiday, we bring you some HUGE, big ol' important news pieces about our mod.

We apologize for keeping our mouths closed for over a month :O, yes yes fooey on us, but we have a lot of new things to showcase today for you. We bring you a brand-new video of the first footage of a new part of Chapter 2 of Half-Life 2: Retaliation's singleplayer campaign.

We will also discuss the showcased part with you, as of course your going to want new details on the location.

And, for the big tomale, in my opinion, the most important aspect of this news post:

AN INTERVIEW WITH MODINFORMER.ORG

That's right folks, right here on ModDB.com you can hear the interview. I, "The Joker" was interviewed about two weeks ago by ModInformer.org's director, Shawn "deadrawkstar" Kiehl who is also a very good friend of mine. We exchange words almost daily and have good times chatting about gaming and modding and worldy things as well. But enough of that, time to get down to business.

We come to our first big piece of news. A brand-new video of the Nova Prospekt Infantry Quarters/Troop Barracks. A location not originally seen in Half-Life 2, we brought it into the mod to get a feel of new places, new things to look at and see. Please note, this is a heavy WORK IN PROGRESS, and should NOT be taken as final.

We hope you enjoyed the video, and there is plenty more where that came from. As far as our progress, we are wrapping up Chapter2_Section1 and moving on to Chapter2_Section2. What you saw is part of Chapter2_Section1, and what we will do with it is improve it, test it, make sure it all works out. We have also made considerable progress on the third chapter of Half-Life 2: Retaliation's singleplayer campaign, titled "Onward to City 17". More details are to be revealed.

And now, for the final news piece we are proud to present,

The Interview with ModInformer.org

Until next time, we bid you a grateful and pleasant farewell.

- Adrian "The Joker" Lopez
Half-Life 2: Retaliation Development Leader

The ModInformer interview played automatically when I opened this page. Is it possible to embed without that occurring?

Edit: I guess posting this comment counted as a refresh and it auto played again. I use Chrome and it tends auto refresh pages often so that kind of thing could get annoying.

Sorry about that, I had A LOT of trouble getting the interview onto ModDB. I didn't have the raw file, and had to dig through ModInformer.org's page with the interview to find the URL. I tried turning off the autoplay, it wouldnt respond.

? I do not believe I understand the remark. The mod is technically in beta, but its a closed internal beta. We are actually hoping to work with PlanetPhillip for more internal beta testing.

love the video, just have one remark and that is that the pistol shoots when it is pointed upwards because of the recoil. so you shoot and the pistol is thrown a big back and up, and THEN you see the muzzle flash.
don't get me wrong, love how it all looks, and i hate it when people start to complain about small stuff that hardly can be seen. but this is so obvious (to me at least) that ones i noticed it i could watch anything else anymore, it really distracted me.

sorry, other then that, great mod so far, am really interested in this, the more so because i noticed that this mod is in development from March 2008, so this has to be one great mod when so much time i spent on it, hope it has a lot of large great maps, can't wait!!

Wait.. The Joker is 14-years-old?! HOLY ****!
When I was 14, I didn't even know how to make a simple, working map for HL2!
That's something I have to admire.

Nice work Joker, I'm impressed.

He is an impressive piece of work isn't he ? Composes the custom music tracks himself too. A very talented individual.

Looking good Joker !

Thank you everyone for your compliments. I have been modding since I was 11, and learned mapping and such about a year ago. I have managing and coordinating teams of 5 or more developers since 11 years old.And Shawn, hahahahaha.
