Post news Report RSS Next update: Carrying!

As of update 0.21.2 characters can carry eachother. This opens up a lot more possibilities in the future, because I can implement capturing. That will allow for police to take prisoners, slavers to take slaves, cannibals to take you home to eat, bounty hunters to catch you alive. It means you will be able to capture others too, for ransoms, bounties, or interrogation. But thats for future versions.

This opens up a lot more possibilities in the future, because I can implement capturing. It means you will be able to capture others too, for ransoms, bounties, or interrogation. But thats for future versions.

Now when you drop from your wounds, you stay down until you have healed enough. If a character is down and won't get up for a while, you will have to carry him.
To make things a little easier, there is now a new kind of medkit called a "splint kit". With this you can put a splint on a characters wounded bodypart and restore a small amount of function. The amount you can restore is the same as your medical skill level. So a medic skill of 20, healing a bodypart that is damaged to -10 can splint it up to +10, meaning the character can stand up again.

carrying
You can also fight with one hand while carrying someone, but you'll need a one-handed weapon.

So the idea of the game in its further stages will be that you need to juggle your personnel. Its not a game thats designed for one man army diablo-style gameplay. You need a number of characters, not just for their different skills, but because some will be out of action at times and need time to recover, preferably in a safe, secure place with defences and medical facilities. If you fight too much too hard and if your enemies pile on the pressure they will start to wear you down and you will be defending yourself with your rookies and wounded men who can't fight at their full strength.

I love how in depth you're going with this concept, really thinking about the little things, making players really think.

Games need more of the little things like this. I always think of Dwarf Fortress when I think of intricacy, but this one may find itself up there with DF at the top of my list if this trend continues. ^^

You should really add shadows. Shadows would make the game look so much better, since the scenery is otherwise very empty in that desert.

Besides that this game's looking very nice, keep it up!

thats so exciting! i must say, very new to Desura and certainly havent given this game very much thought before reading some of the update posts. As a player who craves depth in a game, I must say the details you take into consideration as you develop is very impressive. On the topic of slaves in this game, are there going to be a number of illicit activitiys that could utilize slave labour as a comodity for productivity?

My list of ideas for futre updates ranked by the most needed.
1. Theme: There is the fact that a bunch of idiots are stuck in an endless desert but somehow have infinite resorces so i recomend starting a theme or working on what we currently have.
2. Territory and faction relationship: So far the most ive seen are a bunch of yellow people attacking some settlement and all getting knocked out without a singal kill so there should be relationships among the towns and thier territory along with the abbility to claim your own. faction relations should become more public, civilians should run in thier homes and hide, and they should badmounth people when talking casualy with the player.
3. Robotics: You already mentioned robotic arms but i think this should be steped up. Certin arms have diffrent abilites or usefulnes such as a hook would be a cheap hand replacement but would only be able to pick up or drag certin things under certin circumstanes but some arms could be useful for combat. I also think players with very high robtics should be able to build robots or automate defence turrets to certin amounts.

Just a...tad bit early for suggestions, dontcha think? What has been released to us in this alpha state is bare bones at best and is just enough to allow them to sell it to us in order to receive funding to further develop the game. I think we can all rest assured that things like territories, relations, economy, and much much more are in store for some point in the future. Just watching the trailer should tell you that much. :-P
Did you not see the "Build your own settlement..." bit? This game will likely be huge and in depth.
