It's Indie of the Year competition. I would love to get votes, and as far as I know you can vote for as many games as you want? So please, vote for me if you think my game deserve it. :) Regardless of that I will continue updating with my progress and interesting things about the game.
Today I will show you two new units and a bit of background explanation on them and on another unit.
This is a huge eagle, big enough to carry a baby. The huge eagles are on Gilgamesh's army. In the myth of Gilgamesh, the king was told by his magicians that if his daughter will have a son this son will usurp his throne. He kept his daughter closely guarded, but she got pregnant anyway(heh).
The guards, afraid of the king's fury have decided to cast the child from a summit. The child was then saved by an eagle in flight. The bird took him to an orchard, where he was carefully set down.
(The left sprite is the one I will use in game, the right one is a failed attempt)
The Sumerian have believed in magic and spells. There were many uses for spells, but many of them were related to diseases, either causing or healing from. When a person had a disease it was believed that a demon was causing it. Rituals of spells were used to drive away those supernatural beings. It was also used to undo bad effects of certain 'sinful' actions.
Sorcerers would do both white magic(which is to heal and and drive away demons, which translated into curing disease and bad effects) and black magic to cause harmful effects and diseases on people. Or they would do magic to disrupt other sorcerers' black magic.
A Sumerian solider was just an ordinary working man that would become a solider in times of need, but would be working on his own profession the rest of the time. The weapon of choice for soldiers in Gilgamesh's army is the Khopish, a sickle like sword that is sharp in the exterior of the blade rather than interior.
