Here is the latest in our new Overgrowth alpha format! David himself took some time to illustrate the traditional changelog in video form.

Don't forget that you can help support us, try out our alphas (such as the one in the video), and chat with other preorderers in the Secret Preorder Forum by preordering Overgrowth.

Be sure to watch it in HD!

The features highlighted in the above video are as follows (among some extra ones thrown in for good measure):

- Added tool to attach environment objects to character skeletons
- Added NVTX labels for GPU profiling
- Converted most immediate-mode drawing to use vertex arrays or VBOs
- Improved VBO and line-width state shadowing
- Reduced per-frame memory allocations
- Static physics AABBs are only updated as needed
- Added angelscript benchmarking functions
- Fixed performance issue with ASGetObjectIDArray
- Fixed vec3 normalization issue which could cause random crashes

Thanks as always for all the support! See you guys in IRC and the forums.

PUT THIS GAME ON STEAM EARLY ACCESS ALREADY. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MANY MORE PRE-ORDERS/PURCHASES YOU WILL GET.

Agreed. Haven't redownloaded Overgrowth for like years after the pre-order. Putting it on Steam would at least facilitate handier updates.

Even in it's alpha stage Overgroth is much more better than some of the current AAA-games. In fact it should be on any platform so that everyone sees this great work!

I noticed that Origin is sponsoring the Mod of the year thing this year... I'm scared.

All these sub systems are impressive! It started with blood, animations and now this attachment feature. You can do a similar thing with UDK (KActors can be attached without any scripting), but how it all works in Overgrowth is amazing. All the features of the Phoenix Engine just seem so aproachable and user-friendly.

Are attached objects capable of blocking weapon blows at all or is it just visual so far?

Good point, should be interesting. I´d like to see helmets, hats or something like... or full complete outfits/armors like a prize of a challenge or something like.

I'm wondering how procedural this system can be, could a character pick up an item and know how / where to wear / equipe it?
