Because of FPS problems with the original Orb, we have dumped that map and Zero has been working on an all new Orb - and it is looking great as of now. The following two shots is a sneak preview for the WIP of what will hopefully be known as one of the best maps for Half-Life 1:


Meanwhile, our coder Jason has been working on a great new explosion effect using his particle system and sprites made by SSJS. Here are two WIP shots of the new explosions in two new maps:

The water looks awesome in the first two pictures. And between the two mech mods back to back on the news page here, this one looks better, I don't care if theirs is for Quake3. Zero's maps always own.
this water looks weird, but with the blur effect it looks nice :)
one of the best maps? appalling to be honest ... thats supposed to be water? are you from the planet of little green men!?!?
its one of the worst examples of using high dimension textures. that water doesn't look like water and, correct me if i'm wrong, the effect the water is trying to create is one of a reflection.
suggestion for the texture:
maybe use a normal 64x64 texture and in photoshop tile the texture and use the clone and heal brush to remove the edges so it looks continus then you would apply the reflection of the sun, i guess screen blending would do.
also, did you guys use a photo of a lake or something?
i've should of never critizied without suggesting how to fix it.
