After a while we are showing our first bug ship.
It is a small escort carrier capeable of launching swarms of bugs in its defense. It is also able to fire plasma at enemy ships in ship to ship combat, though not able to stand up to the real warships, battlegroups of these ships can hold there own in combat.
On the other shot is a concept of what a one on one face-off between two ships may look like.

Nope it is said in the book that the bugs do use starships, and in the TV show it is shown in the form of a transport bug.
