We brought to realization the new elements of the game, responsible for enhancing the interactivity of the game world. The both two elements are vital, as they directly influence the engagement of a player into what is happening on the screen.

Just after the day and night shift appeared in the game, it became obvious that our sunflower-torches were lacking interactivity: it wasn’t very interesting just to look at them standing still and showing no reactions to whatever was happening around! Initially, the torches were supposed to ease the life of the colonists, lighting the territory effectively. Finally we corrected their behavior: at night the lamps are hidden, but the solar powered batteries are turned to the sun and gather energy. Closer to the nightfall, in twilight, they fold up, replaced by the telescoping tube with lamps, which turns on to light the nearby area.
The gif demonstrates the shift from the day condition into the night one.

Just in case someone has forgotten, we have a cool device a character can assemble himself. It’s a turret which can use as a barrel almost any fire weapon. As it is set by a player and provided by a weapon and some bullets, it goes into a patrolling mode. When patrolling, it checks the given area and, having spotted a target, shoots.

To give a player a better understanding how the device works, we added to it a scanning laser – а green one for the patrolling, and а red one for the attack. The gif below demonstrates the behavior of the turret. Now, even being far away from the weapon, it’s easy to see whether it is fighting against someone or is all in piece and quiet.

I think that scanner effect coming from the turret could use some flickering or blinking, but looking great so far.
