Hey again!
First off, thank you so much for putting Modular Combat in the Top 100 mods on Mod DB! We are blown away as we did absolutely no promotion during the voting time, and yet you still managed to get us in! We have always believed that Modular Combat is a community mod.
What you guys did for us proved that. Thank you, so much.
Where the 'eff is v1.77?!
Modular Combat takes a long time to make. We are constantly changing the mod, re-balancing, and innovating. We also get caught up in adding new features. This is a huge problem for many, many different reasons.
First off, we are constantly testing all the changes we made. We make a lot of little changes to the mod that end up causing huge problems either with bugs or with balancing. This is something that we've noticed, and will be avoiding in the future.
Secondly, we are constantly fighting against feature creep. This is when we plan for too much into one release. We get bogged down with testing the new features while the current release starts to feel a bit stale. In the future, we plan to have smaller, but more frequent releases. This should help to keep you guys refreshed while keeping us on top of what's going on.
OK, so what's in v.177?
Modular Combat v1.77 will feature the following things:
- New weapons upgrade system. Players will be able to upgrade their weapons as well a spawn with a primary weapon of their choice (instead of the SMG1, you could use the AR2, Shotgun, .357 Magnum, or the Crossbow).
- Completely rebalanced modules. We are working with a new systems designer (introduction coming soon) to completely revamp the balance system within our modules. We have found that there is too big of a gap between low levels and high level players. We are working to fix this.
- New module menu system. Our menus haven't been the greatest. We have completely revamped the module menus to make it more user-friendly and to give you more information!
We have done a lot of cool things to Modular Combat v1.77, and we can't wait to share with you! Release date info coming soon!
Where is my preview?! (Or: An Interview with Decker!)
About a month or so ago, Matthew Dryden had an interview with one of Modular Combat's top players: Decker. You should definitely listen to this interview to get an idea of what the new Modular Combat is going to feel like.
If you're new to Modular Combat, also give this a listen. You'll enjoy what you hear, and you may get a better idea of what kind of mod this is!
Decker is a fantastic player who is the mastermind behind popular characters like Elementalist. If you see him online, be sure to say hello! He's very friendly.
Remember to vote for us!
Even though you amazing people have gotten us into the Top 100 mods, the voting is still not done! We still have a chance at one of the top spots. Please vote for us to get into the Top 5!
See you soon with some release date details!

What side are YOU on?
(Special thanks to the Overgrowth team and Iiro Jäppinen for providing these nice icons!)
You guys are too awesome.
Damn right we are...but you guys are ******* awesome.
Hey i know decker, he killed me alot.
Yea, me too :/
I play my cloaker and hide when he is on. I hate nades!
He's killed me a lot as well...Decker is hard as hell to nerf...
he is very good, but i have a level 13 tank thats pretty much immune to his spells
did I just heard, "The nest MC version will be available in December." ??? Hear it yourself at 7:41... This is kinda weird o_O
Yeah...this is an old conversation. We tried and failed hardcore...soon though!
Sounds very good!
then our lvl will be reset again...
But this time i just half played on the brittish server in the w8 for a future update, this one.
Your characters will be reset, but this could be the last time. We've implemented character versions. Your character on a v1.77 server will be slightly differently than a character on a v1.78 server.
"In the future, we plan to have smaller, but more frequent releases."
I have heard that somewhere else. :P
Damn you, Valve!
so now can we say mc is working on valve time
hey i was wondering how to modify the number of module points on your server, can anyone help?
