Hi all!

Today is my last day here at home. As of tomorrow I am going to be a soldier for the next 6 months. That means that my modding time will be very small for that period of time. As I will be only at weekends at home (if I don't have to stay as a guard in the barracks).

So I wanted to write this news to inform all people who still didn't know that.

As for the 1.9.42 release. It looks like the solution for those who can't get it to work is fairly simple. If you overwrite the old 1.9.40.21 build with the new version the problem get's solved.

Many people asked why you don't have access to T3 or higher. It was a decision I made. Why? Our team and I spend about 6 months of work to get Techlevel 1 and Techlevel 2 done right. And no I am not going to make a fast fix to enable the higher techlevels, they are not really in a playable state anymore and there is also no AI support for them.

Most know the balance of older versions was way off. So what we needed was a very good foundation. I can't keep on adding more and more stuff without destroying the base gameplay. So I had to restart from the ground. Getting the basics right.

At first I wanted to release 1.9.41 - rebalanced only T1 - but knowing players and myself, most will get pretty fast bored with it. So I jumped straight to 1.9.42 and added T2.

Now we released it, the changes are not only balance, but we also added custom sidebars and custom EVA's for all 4 factions. Our voice acting team recorded about 312 new lines just for two tech levels! Some important fixes are also included. The random map generator now works with it's complete features back.

For the next update, I am going to work on T3 and would really be thankfull if people could give our team feedback about the new balance. Feel free to post in the forums for that, as that would be easier for me to find proper information and feedback over the next months.

Also there is quite a lot of new stuff coming for future techlevels. So it's also a good opportunity for new players to check this early techlevels - as later ones may get very complex. You can't also compare original techlevel scale with Crystallized Doom scale. For example the Mammoth MK.II is "only" T8. There is even much more nasty stuff. Superweapons, prototype units (not epic ones), space units, satellites etc will be T9 and T10. If you just want to play a more classic battle, it would be T8 which you are targeting for.

But for now you can choose between the older version (1.9.40.21) of Crystallized Doom (this is recommend if you don't want to get a "limited" version of the mod) and the newer one (1.9.42) which is limited to it's reworked techlevels.

When I come back I will be able to work on the next bigger update. But before that I may be able to make balance adjustments/fixes at weekends (but I can't promise it).

Thank you Astor, for the info.

I think you can focus on this project when you come back, there is no need for quick adjustments :). We've waited 4 years for this project to mature, we can wait more :).

Hope you have an easy service(military), feel free to write your favorite moments there:).

The "Qucikfix" to playing tier 10 is to run crystalized doom from the tiberian sun EXE and not the Crystalized Doom one. However, the other tiers are very buggy, resulting in many crashings, and isn't finished. So far the two tiers are fun to play with! I have had a few other crashes too, but very rare. I personally find it odd that watch towers give off a beam when using bullet shots, but that's visual. As for balance, I feel like CABAL needs some sort of sensor defense, or a larger one on the construction yard. And it would be neat if the mutant hovel woul have a spotlight and defense too considering it has a tower on it.
