SEGA loves modders and that’s why we’re delighted to be involved in Gamer Networks Mod DB Awards. SEGA always tries to support the modding community where possible and this year alone launched Steam Workshop functionality for Total War: WARHAMMER, Football Manager 2017 and the SEGA Mega Drive Collection, finally giving the legions of talented ROM modders a place to legitimately share their amazing custom Mega Drive ROMs. Good luck to everyone who’s been nominated, carry on with the great work!
I've got a question.
I'm part of the "Rise of Mordor" team for Total War: Attila. Last year, we came first place in the 2015 Player's Choice 'Best Upcoming Mod' award.
In the comments section of that article (https://www.moddb.com/groups/2015-mod-of-the-year-awards/features/players-choice-best-upcoming-mod-2015) a playser said that "you need to rank ABOVE your last rank for getting ranked in here".
Does this mean, Rise of Mordor is ineligble for any awards as we have already come first? (Just so our fans don't waste their vote).
You cant rank higher than 1st again if you are highly placed you get an honorable mention. You qualify for players choice when your mod is released. Goodluck chaps!
I feel like a lot of stuff is left in the dark on Moddb, is there any section of the website dedicated to explaining stuff to the users?
So if I follow the thought process, the Edain Mod (who ranked first last year) will only get an honorable mention even if they get the most votes?
Strange system if you consider that if you don't place 1st you can always place, but if you place 1st you can never place again. Is this correct? Most especially strange considering the system allows for multiple votes even for competing mods.
Spoiler alert: Minesweeper revision will win mod of the year this time.
"SEGA loves modders" Wow i haven`t laughed so hard for a long time thanks guys.
Well, they kinda own Creative Assembly and Relic, both of whom make highly-modded games :P
Aside from TW:WH, TW:Attila, DoW2 & CoH2, yeah, both CA and Relic have made some highly modded games... nearly a decade ago.
AFAIK, competitive DoW2 players only play on the Elite Mod :P
Also, never underestimate the value of modding older games.
Elite Mod looks pretty decent, but compared to, say, Ultimate Apocalypse for DoW1, it's child's play in terms of added content.
That's the problem with newer SEGA games, they allow you to tweak things and reskin, but they're complete bitches to actually add content to.
And we're talking about SEGA sponsoring a modding award in 2016, not 2006. A better sponsor (or, at least, more fitting) would have been, say, Paradox or Bohemian Interactive.
so how can i vote for my fav mod?
Go to a mod's profile and click on the vote button below the description.
ty for the answer somehow i could not see the huge vote button on the mods homepage :D
Can we vote for more than one mod?
In the first phase (until 11 December), you vote for as many mods/indies/apps/VR games as you want.
In the second phase, you vote only for those who reach the Top 100 (but there's no limit on how many among them you can vote).
Sweet!
Finally, an election I can get behind.
i'm with you dune i say srg. mark 4

Will the ranking in the top 100 be released, or can I but see that our mod is amongst the top 100?
I'd be happy to answer any questions you have
Why thank you! My question is but this: In the first round of the mod awards, where did our mod, Seven Kingdoms: Total War, rank? I am simply curious how popular we are :)
Right in the middle of the top 100!
Thank you!
