After 7 years of game making, I think it is finally time to shape MMM games into something that is consistent in theming and gameplay. I made over 20 games in the past 7 years and almost all of them are different genres and have a different tone. For example, let's look the last three games: "White Wolf" is a dark Metroidvania, "Mechanical Guardians" is arcade roguelike game and "Ever Growing" is an arcade platformer where players build their own stages... All this, however, had one purpose for me. To practice my programming skills in Game Maker. And now I got to a point where I can make almost anything. So Now I think it is a good time to step out from the training zone and to start making big games that will be constant in gameplay and tone. :)


I would like to become recognized as a guy who makes dark Metroidvania games and who always tries to push the boundaries of the genre. #CodeEvolved is a good step in that direction. But Code: Evolved game is almost done. The story for this game is finished 6 months ago and all paper planning and game mechanics programming is done. The only thing left for me is to finish making remaining 11 stages.


In the meantime, I started working on a story for my next game. And I finished the story a week ago. This game is called #BeyondRetrieval and it will be the biggest Metroidvania game I made so far. The game is still in a very early stage of planning but some gameplay mechanics of the game are already done. For example, the player plays as one of the 3 characters that he can change by simply pressing the button. Also, the player will be able to get new abilities in a way that is very different from classing equipment and lv up mechanics. With combined materials player will be able to summon a monster that will become a boss fight. After defeating summoned boss player will get access to all abilities that the boss had and that abilities (including that boss as a summon magic). And that is just a small part of the gameplay :)


For now, I work hard on the last cut-scene for Code: Evolved wolf side of the story. In the meantime new Code: Evolved demo is available on Mmmfree2dwindowsgames.blogspot.rs so please check it out and tell me what you think. Every feedback is welcome. :)
