We're still focusing on bug fixing so we eventually can release the 1.3 patch. The biggest problem right now is that since the game is hosting a server in the background, the game requires more hardware resources than before. We're trying to figure out a way to solve that, but here's a weekly snapshot for now:
-Added a menu with options for opening your single-player world
-The multi-player menu now scans for LAN servers (single-player worlds)
-Villagers will remove trade options after the option has been used 3-15 times
-Added wooden stairs for the remaining three wood types
-Corrected Ender Chest storage (no longer wiped on respawning)
-A lot of smaller changes and fixes

Get the snapshot here:
-Client: Assets.minecraft.net
-Server: Assets.minecraft.net (or EXE)

"Villagers will remove trade options after the option has been used 3-15 times"

Well, this is the suckiest update ever. :T
no more improving villagers I guess.

They run out of stuff. They are still being improved. Though, I like it as long as they restock every once in a while.

It kind of seems like that. Sometimes I think Jeb is getting rid of as much of Notch's work as possible. But I usually only think that when I'm dealing with the unnecessary lag that comes from the stupid single player running on a server.

My suspicion is that the code being altered/replaced was poorly written. Notch is not the best coder, he will say so himself. I rather like the new changes where singleplayer can be joined by people on a lan. Even still, considering all the stability fixes and the fix to the long standing skin glitch(respawn as steve) I have a STRONG feeling part of the support for mod work is major refactoring of hurried/sloppy code. (not offense notch)

"so we can eventually release the 1.3 patch"...
Eventually is right. Half-Life 3 will be out before Minecraft 1.3

What's with the downvotes? First me and then you guys? Stupid trolls.

Still, it's a shame that no one has a sense of humor when it comes to the number 3.

What I'd really like them to do is fix the launcher. I know they're proud of it showing update news and whatever, but it's really been causing more problems than it solves.

Minecraft worked fine for me before they introduced the new launcher and if I bypass the launcher by going to Minecraft.net and playing there, the game works fine. Their crappy launcher causes some kind of a memory leak or something on my system that eventually crashes the game (and usually several other programs along with it - if I launch Minecraft.exe, it's not uncommon to have four or five other programs crash).

maybe its good they tweaked the villagers. I thought that trading update might be a little over used as in, trading junk with them instead of
getting your own materials. Who knows, Im looking forward to see 1.3 anyways :D
