Hi there. My name is John, I am a music composer and part-time digital graphics hobbyist. My compatriot Logan and I make up the symphonic electronica duo EdenShard, and we're bringing a brand new soundtrack to the game with the aim of doing the original melodies justice while enhancing the game's atmosphere and improving on the overall quality of the sound. You heard a very small sampling of the new OST in the recently released Paris trailer.
We're based in the US, though in very different corners of it; Logan hails from the northwest while I'm in the northeast. We've been making music both individually and together for a few years now, and count among our game music influences Alexander Brandon, Peter Hajba and Frank Klepacki. Logan's material tends to take a more energetic focus while I emphasize a more atmospheric sound. We think this collaborative combination is the right choice for taking on a project of such varied tone and scale as this one.
It's a real pleasure to work with Harry (aka Trasher) and Björn on this project, and in the coming months and weeks as we approach the estimated launch date, I'm looking forward to sharing quite a bit more with you all!
Until next time,
John
At what kind of moments in the game can we expect to hear the new music, as opposed to the old music?
Apologies for the other "guest" comment, that's what I get for forgetting to log in on the tablet.
We're scoring the entire game, front to back. It's a complete soundtrack. The new music will be installed alongside the old and the game will use the new by default.
Wait, what kind of music would fit in with the New York Streets? Something which would sound similar to it or what?
The original Hell's Kitchen music captured the feeling of the mission(s) really well. Our version will most likely end up going after a similar sound, combining sections of the original melody lines with our own twists.
By default you say. So there'll be an option to use the vanilla soundtrack instead if we prefer that?
Not that I'm criticizing your work, it sounds good so far. :)
Yes. The option will be there in some form, even if it is as simple as deleting the installed music files.
Well, it already sounds a lot better than those "Hey, let's remake the DX OST with electric guitars since that ''obviously'' makes it 1,000,000 times better than the original!!!!11one" twats from the past.
Very atmospheric and fitting. Looking forward to hearing it in action! :]
Wonderful samples in trailer! I love it. Can't wait enjoy it in entire game.
Sounds great! Really looking forward to this!
That's called eargasm. You couldn't fit better the cyberpunk atmosphere.
