Hey Moddb, it's Will, map designer for Star Wars Battlefront: Tides of War. As Nate has announced, we are moving into gear once again on this mod. Now as you all know, this mod will feature a whole slew of new maps and modes, and we would like your input. You have all been very supportive of our creation, and we thank you. So, as a reward, I am hosting a "sweepstakes" of sorts for this mod.
Have you ever had an idea or dream of a Star Wars map that would work well in Battlefront, but never wanted to learn to mod, or thought it was too hard? Well, here's your chance to make that dream a reality. From now until December 25th, the team here at SpecOps Studios will accept requests and descriptions of possible maps. Leave your entries in the comments for this article, or send it to us at studiosspecops@gmail.com. We will search the entries presented to us, and 1 to 2 winners will be announced on January 1st by yours truly. The lucky winner(s) will recieve credit in the mod, have the map included, and recieve the full version of the mod 5 days before the general release.
Keep in mind, we are NOT accepting pre-built maps in this contest, only descriptions and/or plans. Also, no admissions will be accepted after Noon on December 25th.

Perhaps the interior of a Star Destroyer or Mon Cal Cruiser as a conquest map?
With the only units available to the attackers are variants on the standard boarding units seen in space battles?
That sounds like an interesting and not overly complicated idea. I'll look into it.

There's about a thousand Geonosis maps out there, what's your point?
Nothing, just wanna know that if this wins, how will it be difference from space boarding action because most Geonosis maps have differences which keeps us playing them.

Nice, sounds like a solid gameplay design and definitely do-able.
I was working on a Katana Fleet space battle, i'll PM you the full details on it, if you want them, but it is unique in its own right.
In working on I meant planning and concept sketching, cant figure out these mod tools and dont have a Dreadnaught model to work with.
Sounds interesting, would be complicated with new ship models, still and idea that should be considered.

How about the space battle over Coruscant since there really has never been a Great space battle of it yet, I remember there was one guy doing one (A few years ago now), but he moved on to other things so it never got finished.
Or how about a true battle of hoth.
Or the space battle over the SSD over Endor, or even the battle its self over Endor.
Or lol maybe I'll stop since there a lot of battles to go in to.

A space battle of endor would be cool, I think one over an SSD would be cooler.
I think he means a bigger version of Hoth. It would be really neat if we could expand Echo Base, and make the snowfield bigger. If we could give the Rebels some better fortification and cover, that would be really neat. Doubling the amount of AT-ATs and AT-STs on the battlefield could balance out the Rebels' advantage of fortification.

well i was thinking something about...a battle inside of a ship like the venator cruiser...like blowing the ship up from the insides...
Interior sabotage mission?
Maybe the Battle of Ryloth from TCW show, both land and space. For land you could have the republic first cp at the outskirts of Nabat. The after the proton cannons are destroyed you get to command Windu's AT-TE convoy. Or even liberate Lessau. Or fight at the Republic base with General Di in "Supply Lines". Or even include both. It will make one great large map. (I once tried to make that for EAW FOC and it was successful)
For Space, the republic can have 3 Venators. The CIS have 6 Munificents and a Lucrehulk. And every ship should be detroyable.
Also Christophsis and Teth would be nice!
If you're talking about a land/space battle, that is possible, but it would take lots of time, and it would have numerous bugs. Having destroyable ships is perfectly possible, although removing the fighter spawn points when the ship blows up will be a little tricky. ARC_Troopa_Nate and I have discussed this before, and last I remember, he was considering adding this feature.
Removing the fighter spawns wouldn't be a problem, AI planning would be the hardest thing to account for.
Your Ryloth idea sounds rather complicated and land to space is hard to work with, however, we have discussed land to space so it's still a possibility, however not likely.

Coruscant city map would be great. Surely a lot of work, though.
We have made serious plans for a coruscant city map already, the main constraint would be money.

We have thought of doing a Coruscant City map for a long time. If we do do it, I'm thinking of placing a lot of emphasis on the lower regions.
A thought on this would be land to space, it would be tough but really fun to do, we could mix this map with the map of one of the comments above.
Are we still gonna do the "Base Assault" maps?

How about a map set on Mandalore?
I reckon some of those bucket heads would make a great indigenous side.

well then you will laugh about this:
one day i was playing endor. i was vaer. i got on a speeder bike and made for the rebel command post at the edge of the map. so i got of and out of nowhere an ewok threw a stone at me. vader fell and then the ewok threw 2 spears. then i was dead.
I was killed by one of the bastards once.
I was running Media Player and Ripping a DVD in the background, so I had the graphics of Battlefront turned all the way down.
That made the grass non-transparent and he jumped me when I had about 2% health left.
I always thought a Felucia type base map would work out. It would be in a night time setting with the fungal tree's glowing everywhere. It would take place in a sepertist controlled area and the map would be something like 60% natural settings and 40% base and command structures. The object would be for recon or republic troopers trying to take the base, and so there might be some vehicle support on the forest side(perhaps hidden). Anywho, that is my idea, hope I am not late to post this.
