There's no doubt that the announcement of Half-life 2 at the E3 has awaken some new modding teams. Even if the official release date is only in 2 months (and now is rumored to be way back in Christmas 2003), some HL2 mods already started to get some attention. Some of them had the chance to stand out in the crowd of mods and it's the case for Entropy.
Silverbud, leader of Entropy, accepted this interview to share details on the making of the mod and its projects...
Extract :
- Silverbud : We will start from the core then we will expand at the maximum we can with the Source engine.
- LinKuFF : But, aren't you scared of pushing too much Source's limits with this kind of project ?
- Silverbud : That's why we are here. Push the graphics engine. For this question, I got a simple answer: why try to make a mod without real originality ? Personally if I make a mod, I'll create it so it uses the maximum protential of the graphics engine to create a new kind of Mod. Entropy is principally an FPS, but there are also different concepts: the RTS concept which means there will be an economy and you will be able to control your gang. But there's also the MMORPG style, where we give the player the possibility to customize their characters (height, face, eyes, nose, etc). And of course the possibility to develop skills and to save the evolution of your character on a server data base for example.
There's no doubt that this mod has a future... Come read this interview at this page : Halflifexpert.com
