The BTMI team has been working overtime. We have some very nice shots of our weapons and Elemental in the game. Thanks very much to prall, and many other people at We could not have gotten this far without them. (click pic for link to more screenshots)
It is ok to make texture that fit into the world and look ok on their own. There is no feeling for the shape of the mech in the texture. Each part has it's own texture with no concern for the whole look. I can barely make out the mech. It looks like a big blob.
You need some kind of bright colors at some of the corners and highlights so we can see the shapes. Say on the arm with the chain gun. Something as simple as some line on the part behind the barrel that were bright would make that dark texture look like it was pointing your eye at the shiny barrel of the chain gun. Those kinds of small texture changes will give a completely different impression of the model.
Just out of curiosity, is that model created with XSI?
