I've returned out of nowhere to post a minor update. Essentially, all I'd like to say that the mod isn't dead as such - it's just dormant. Like I said, I'm waiting for the always imminent release of HL2 (hopefully soon) before I continue anything past the design phase.

I've been messing around with the original design document, but have reached a point where I decided to scrap it and start from scratch. It's nowhere near completed, but overall I think that it will provide a stronger and more coherant gameplay experience. The story is basically nonexistant, but I've created a world in which to set it and have an idea of the direction that I'd like to take it. Originally the game was to exist in the world as it is today, but to allow for some gameplay elements and special locations, I decided to create my own. Some of the new locations I've thought up should look absolutely stunning in the Source engine.

In some ways the HL2 delays have been good. I've been able to refine my mapping skills to a point where I believe I can do my design justice. The advantage of this will be that I hopefully wont have to scrap/overhaul locations because I can't get them looking the way I wanted to, as I had to do with a few maps when I was still going ahead with the HL1 version.

It's late, so I'm probably not making a lot of sense here. Watch this space once HL2 is released, I'll probably be making an announcement soon after.
