Imho white HUD brings a nice contrast wth the dark uniform, doesn't feel as much out of place as the red one, and stands out far more, judging by the screenshots above. So I'd go with the white one :)
I agree with you
I'm suggesting white because it's hard to see in red a bit and you can't understand when you got 10hp or something.
Giving a better contrast in all situations I'd also stick to the white colored HUD.
White is far easier on the eyes in your example.
But the red hud is a reference to the red spectacles the Black Ops wear. Red would work if it was a lighter shade of red or when it had obvious glow effects (from white in the center to red on the outsides or visa versa).
