Post news RSS Help me get past my "mappers block"! & Other stuff.

In short, gimme all of your ideas on what I should map out in this mod.

I've been hit by a by a brick wall, and that brick wall has letters on it. The letters spell out: "M-A-P-P-E-R-'-S B-L-O-C-K-!" This wall hit me so hard, I haven't been able to stay in the editor for more than ~20 minutes. So, I need your help! Post some ideas of stuff I should map out, a lab, an outdoor area, anything! Or, recommend me some cool mods to play in order to get some ideas. Anything that is along those lines, I'm sure will help me pick my way through the thick brick wall.

In other news, I have finally finished the base of my Human Grunt, he now has all of his up-to-date parts. The only thing that needs fixing is his horrible coding, and his new animations (sequence). The Scientist's base is also finished, but he needs the Day One animations converted for use, and slightly better code. I'll be getting started on Barney soon enough, giving him multiple skin groups and also, better pathfinding AI (as everything else). Working on new gib models at this time to match up to the "SD/HD" atmosphere of the mod as well, like HGrunt gibs, Sci gibs, Barney gibs, and most importantly, new gibs for the crates. I'm also going to make the Human Assault have a nice new skeleton and face animation. I'm afraid that apparently modeling has taken the place of my true love, mapping. Please, help me get back to my love. We're like Romeo and Juliet. So, for the closing, post your ideas of what I should map out and/or what mods I should play for good inspiration.

Thanks,
Joebama

I know how you feel, I'm going through one right now. I've been playing mods like Poke 646 and Life's End, they are giving me ideas. What I recommend is playing some other Black Mesa related mod or any mod to get inspiration.

Yeah I get that a lot too, it's a massive bitch.. all I can say is try and work some things out on paper and when you have something that works go back to the editor and make it. If it's the mapping that bothers you full stop, I would concentrate on another aspect of the mod.. such as textures, some modelling/hacking etc. The main thing is to have fun.. if you're not doing that then you need to take a break for a while!

Try to build a base or a security room.

You should build an abandoned section of Black Mesa, where there are survivors hiding in a hastely constructed fort.

I also know how you feel, I've been hitting the same wall myself. Unfortunatly I can't model anything good and my custom textures all suck so, waht can you do....

Well, what about a research facility on Xen... From where they capture specimen of Xen creatures and "process" them, and have some gate to send them to earth labs...
