Post news Report RSS GMDX Release Date Revealed + More

I am proud to announce the release date of GMDX (v8.0): December 7th, 2015. GMDX addresses the many flaws of the game, polishes it to a very high standard, and adds new layers of depth that one would have hoped to see in a sequel.

The countdown begins: Genericname112.wix.com

GMDX addresses the many flaws of the game, polishes it to a very high standard, and adds new layers of depth that one would have hoped to see in a sequel. GMDX is executed with the strict parameter of staying true to the original design principles that define Deus Ex, and seeks to improve all aspects of design excluding the plot and soundtrack. The cumulative result thus far is said to be, and aims to be the "definitive Deus Ex experience".

Alongside the announcement is three videos, Part 1: Artificial Intelligence, Part 2: Player-Controlled Mechanics, and Part 3: Simulated Systems and Effects. As we draw closer to release more videos will be released. There will be at least 8 parts in total.

View them on YouTube via the links below.

Part 4: Unveiled/Released 12th November 2015

I'm still desperately waiting for someone to add a NewGame+ option to their Deus Ex mod.
Man I would just play that over and over and over.

that sounds incredible, but i think it would be hard to make on the unreal engine and its ****** save system.

GMDX should be added to Revision as a new gamestyle option. Any chance to that?

That would be quite taxing to do, because a lot of the AI stuff is programmed into the level layuot. Since Revision is remaking all the maps, the mod would have to be ported over. Some of the gameplay tweaks could be possible to carry over without much of a hassle, but that remains to be seen.

It should work with Revision without any work, it just means that you won't get the map changes the CP has included in his mod, only those included in Revision. Once this mod is released, I'll be including GMDX to the Steam version of Revision to test it, just to be sure.

I'm impressed by what you're doing, improving upon game mechanics that are actually steps forward to develop better, believable games. Ironic that mainstreams games of today are so primitive at their game design.

This is what gaming would have been right now if not for the casualization of games. You've earned the respect and recognition of the fellow audience and fanbase out here. Kudos to your dedicated commitment to remove the suck of Deus Ex. You should go out there and make a game of your own, that I believe I would likely support and trust your judgement in game design.

That being said, I still hope that this course stays strong as it is, with the goal of purely being a mod made by dedicated gamers and fans of this series.

Wow, stuff like stamina system and assigning secondary weapons is something I've been wanting for a while, and FP deaths. I didn't know that it was possible to improve the physics like this and all the stuff that goes well with it like destructable pickups and the force affecting how far its pieces go. I know theres alot of stuff that probably should have been in Deus Ex originally like being able to switch on and off whether inventory pauses the gameworld, splashing in water, mantling, light gem (visibility indicator), and flinching when firing powerful weapons or landing. I agree it is the little things that got me immersed in Deus Ex and its hard to find modern titles that have so much attention to detail (outside of graphics I mean). We haven't even had much improvement at all in AI in the last 15 years. Something as small as walking over fragile stuff to break it, makes it seem like a whole new game to me.

True. FEAR also had some alright team oriented AI but that was seriously downscaled in the 2nd game.

Great job man, this mod is the best by far in the entire Deus Ex community; the Revision developers could learn a thing or two from you concerning implementation of feedback and useful innovation.
