A change I made recently - killed enemies become ghosts and they chase the player around! When player gets caught, her qi gets drained and she returns to her human form. I think this is a fun way to balance player’s ghost power, and also put some pressure on players to get things done quickly while they’re using ghost powers.

On a technical level, this was a fun one. I’m using compute shader particles emitting from the skinned mesh renderer. It’s a lot of particles (5000 particles per enemy) but it all runs smoothly because everything is running on the GPU. It looks pretty cool too - many glowing particles leaving a trail. I’ve been wanting to use this skinned mesh renderer GPU particle system somewhere. This is a perfect place to use this tech!" (c) Sean, the Wonhon: A Vengeful Spirit developer.
