Post news Report RSS German handheld weapons

Today we wanted to take the time to show off our handheld weapons for the German forces.

Posted by on

Welcome to our first major update for the Battlefield 1944 mod. Today we wanted to announce the partnership with the Battlegroup42 mod for the Battlefield 1942 game. They have allowed us to use their excellent content and port it over to our mod. This mod is somewhat of a spiritual successor to Battlegroup42, what with it using the excellent Battlegroup Frontlines content as a base, but we hope to take it further than our sister mod did and port more of the BG42 content over.

For today, we wanted to take a look at the German handheld weapons. We will start off with the awesome pistols.

First up is the main backup pistol for the German forces. It is the Walther P38 which comes from the game Day of Defeat Source and was exported by Ponysarus_Rex.

Next we have the iconic Mauser C96 pistol and the later developed M712 "Schnellfeuer" Maschinenpistole. These come to us from Battlefield: Korea mod and will be more rare weapons as they weren't as commonly used as the P38.

The M712 "Schnellfeuer" Maschinenpistole has a slightly different layout with a 20 round extended magazine which is bottom fed as opposed to the C96's top fed stripper clips.

Next up are the rifles which are the backbone of the infantry. Here we have the Karabiner 98k, which comes in 2 flavors.

Here we have the K98 ZF sniper variant. Both models come from Day of Defeat Source and were exported by Ponysarus_rex.

Here is the semi-auto rifle for the Germans, the great Gewehr 43 which originally comes from Battlegroup Frontlines but was reanimated by Project Reality:WW2.

The next weapons we want to show off will be of the fully automatic persuasion.

The first one we want to show you is the Maschinenpistole 40 (MP40) which is the SMG of choice for the Germans. This was exported by Mineral over at Project Reality:WW2.

In addition to the MP40 we have the Sturmgewehr 44, also known by other names such as StG 44 and MP44. This weapon originally comes from Battlegroup Frontlines, but was reanimated by Project Reality:WW2.

After that we have the Light Machine guns. For early maps we have the Mascheinengewehr 34(MG34) the backbone of the support class. This weapon is from Battlegroup Frontlines but Project Reality updated the drum magazine geometry and animations.

On later maps we will have the mighty Mascheinengewehr 42(MG42) which comes from the game Day of Defeat Source and was exported by Ponysarus_rex.

And lastly, but not least of which are the Anti-Tank weapons.

The earlier maps we will have the iconic Panzerfaust. This comes to us from Project Reality:WW2.

Here we have the awesome Panzerschreck which also comes to us from Project Reality:WW2 and will be used mostly on later maps.

That's all for now folks! Until next time! Auf wiedersehen!

Very nice, will this also contain all of the original maps ported over/remade as well?

We will try our best to get as many of the original maps remade, but we are having to use a lot of remade 1942 maps for regular BF2 from the community right now. But so far accurate remakes are Kharkov, Kursk, El Alamein and Gazala. These maps all have similar looking statics to the ones from the era.

Nice progress. You're lucky you can get PR's assets.

Yeah of course, but BFKorea gave them their M1 Garand, B.A.R., M1897 Trenchgun, M3 Knife, PPSH-41, Mosin Nagant's, DP28 LMG, M20 Super Bazooka, M1 Grenade and many other weapons. So it is a mutual thing. They are great friends of ours too. The BIG takeaway here is the use of new Battlegroup42 content that we might be able to potentially share with PR.

Just take a look at their Wikia, this stuff looks phenomenal for BF2, let alone 1942! I still can't believe they have content of better quality than Forgotten Hope 1 that would translate amazingly to BF2.

Focus on the land vehicles, Aircraft and Ships/boats. They just gave us total use of all of this today, along with use of their FTP! XD

Aww! XD I only choose the best models for my mods if I can help it. Wait until you see the new B.A.R. that phale ported for me. He had a motherboard die but when he gets a new one he will send the new gun to me. Poor guy, I had the same **** happen to me a month ago, and my motherboard took out my new 2 month old 8 core 4ghz CPU with it... :/

I got many more great WW2 weapons in store for you. The British will be awesome! Going to be great to get a Lewis Gun for LMG and a new Sten model. I will have a better one than the Sten in BFKorea.

Man with all your asset you could just combine it to create a Battlefield WW2 with a Korean War addon for all i care :D And is it just me or do modders seem to be cursed with unreliable broken hardwares? seen a lot of the same stuff happen in the M&B Warband modding community. Anyways, best of luck as always buddy!

HAHA Could be a curse! But my motherboard was 6 years old and meant for 4 cores and I put a 8 core in it. It worked for 2 months fine though, but in the end was too much for the old girl. I think it just burnt up from the epicness.

But nah, WW2 and Korean wars deserve their own mods. BUT BFKorea 2.0 will be built upon this mod! I got this so stable now dude you have no idea brother! It is light years better than BFK ever thought about being!

You want to see the B.A.R. we will have? Check it out!

Doesn't the BAR look a bit...blue to you?

Of course. there are actually a few reasons for that, but I am glad you asked. That gives me a reason to explain.

Well the first reason is that it is a picture taken in the BF2 HD mod. That uses post processing, and also a lot of other effects. Secondly that weapon has environment mapping, which means that it has some super shine and reflection to it. In reality once I get a hold of it and edit it, it should look something like this which is the actual model.

So yeah, it should look a LOT more like that when I get my hands on it and it is rendered in the BF2 engine. So no worries mate. ;)

super nice buddy!, what were the dead CPU and motherboard? 8-Core FX needs at least an 4+2 125W VRM for our needs.

Anthony817 - - 2,771 comments

Yeah I figured it was the VRM. It was the FX 8350 with the MSI 890GXM-G65 Motherboard. I got another motherboard and FX 8350 now for super cheap. I couldn't afford a new Ryzen build on a super cheap budget but I got it all up and running now and have 16gb of ram with my MSI RX 570 Armor OC edition. A modest system by today's standards sure, but it has plenty enough power to help me mod and do photoshopping when I edit textures and other things.

which motherboard? Msi have crappy VRMs, I've made all the remastered 3.0 in a FX setup, it's just awesome for this even for todays standards. very reliable, mature and robust with nice rendering power, but it does require a good cooler to avoid throttle and a solid motherboard. set your memory to 1600 or 1866 manually since it doesn't have XMP and disable C1E, C6, Turbo Core/ Core/Boost and APM , set it to 4.0GHz by multiplier and 1.36V, leave Cool n Quiet ON. 9-9-9-24-33 or 9-10-10-27-36 if possible

My newer motherboard is this one.

Tinyurl.com

Made sure to update the bios first and then had no problems. It shows 8 core compatible on the motherboard so it is legit and good for it.

Thanks for the tips.

I'm glad that you have a partnership with BattleGroup42 started this month, and I would be glad also if your team also help them as well AFAIK they have LOTS of WIP models needs to be finished. IIRC, they have a Panzer IV F2 (which already ported to BattleGroup42) that needs to be modified to represent the "H" version (here's their banner from 2013: Battlegroup42.de) and to see them on both mods.

Yeah, I am SUPER happy they have shared the content with us.

The only problem is that myself and General_Bradly, my vehicle exporter friend from IDF mod, do not know how to work with or mod BF1942 content for that game to even be able to help them out. He is a damn good modder, but he can't do tanks for BF2. That is just too much for the dude as it takes on average some 70-80 hours to animate tank tracks, and tanks are just not something he knows how to do. Heck the average vehicle coder doesn't know that.

Plus we just never learned 1942 engine. Unfortunately tanks and rigging character models are the most difficult things to have completed in the BF2 engine right now.

I do like where this is going! Battlegroup42 was/is a great mod and they possibly have the largest collection of maps for BF1942 in their mod. Shame the community kind of died out in the last 5 years or so...

However I do hope their great content finds a new life in a new engine and a game that still can get some decent player numbers every once in a while!

Thanks! Yeah when we looked at BG42's Wikia it really blew our minds how detailed the content was for 1942! When Battlegroup Frontlines was made, they actually ported over the German and Russian content directly from that mod as well, and you know how high quality that stuff looks in BF2. In fact it only took me to extract the North African textures from BG42 and port them to the German vehicles for it to be accurate saving me untold hours in Photoshop!

Just take a look at their M4A1 Sherman. I can't wait to see this in our mod!

Amazing work like always! It's great to see that you are working not only with the Project Reality, but also with the Battlegroup42 team. Also, it's a pity to hear that the Phale motherboard has died, since he is a great modder too.

Yeah he is one of the best modders on here, and his mod is amazing. I do hope he can get another motherboard and get back to modding as his content is really awesome!

He also in addition to that B.A.R. exported a nice new Lewis Gun and Sten for us, so the UK faction is kind of depending on these things to make it in the mod.

Hi-Power is for British. I am running on high settings. The desert maps don't have the greatest textures I guess for the ground. Does it really look that bad?

You might want to take a look at the release date. TBD stands for "To be determined", I just started working on this mod a few months ago, it is not nearly ready for a proper release. Too many things need to be fixed before we get to that point. Our Tiger 1, Tiger II, Panther, and few other tanks like M4A3 Sherman need tank sights.

We also have many more weapon fixes to implement, as well as other vehicles and aircraft. We are constantly working on improving it at a steady pace. I want to try and release by the end of the year, but maybe sooner if things start going much faster for us.

Fantastic, will this be a stand-alone?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote

Sorry no, if we released this stand alone, we couldn't keep the Battlefield name. They shut down BF2 Revive becasue they said they were misleading people to think that they were affiliated with them. So we can't legally do that.
