This Is Not a Game
I just want to remind you, this Alpha release is not a game. It's not even a demo. It's an early stepping-stone that will be a part of a series of alpha releases leading up to our eventual demo. Yes, we're talking bout an alpha for a demo! So, why are we doing this?
We are a small startup team, consisting right now of a lot of people who are volunteering time on the project. We aren't seeking funding from a publisher, and we want to remain independent. But that means we need to grow and audience and grow support!
So we are trying to make this game with you, and for you. Therefore, we want you involved in the process early on! We want your feedback, ideas, suggestions, and constructive criticism. As long as expectations on kept it check!
Game development is not easy or cheap. If we want to do more and do it faster, we're going to need crowdfunding support. But we can't ask for your support without really inviting you into the process and letting you be part of the journey with us. So, here we are!
What To Expect
We want to make sure we aren't over promising anything when it comes to Gears. We've been pretty clear about detailing what to expect in our first alpha, and you can find a summary with some helpful information on our Early Access Information Page.
We also have this overview/tutorial video from our Twitch channel. Please take the time to review these in detail if you are interested in testing Alpha 1.
How To Access Alpha 1
If you want to test Alpha 1, there are a few easy steps you need to follow:
- Review the video and info page mentioned above
- Optional: Back GoE! Backers get automatically assigned to a first priority group, and are assured an alpha testing spot.
- Make sure you are signed up on our mailing list and make sure your email is confirmed.
- Reach out to us and let us know you want to be in a priority group. We have over 700 subscribers, and will be seeding those randomly into small test groups. However, we'd love to prioritize those of you who are interested and following us. So, email us, or reach out to us on Twitter or Facebook and we'll make sure you get in an early group. If you are a YouTuber or streamer, please reach out and let us know!
After testing the Alpha, you'll have the opportunity to give us feedback via a survey, and can report bugs through our issue tracker. Players who fill out the survey will be prioritized for future alpha testing releases.
