Post news Report RSS FS' Status and Update

Current status, delays, headaches, the usual run-down and line-up.

Within the last couple of months, Frozen Sky has suffered a major set-back. Following a borked OS7 installation a couple of months ago, I had accidentally deleted my primary FS WIP folder . . . leaving me with my last backup which was a year and a half prior . . .

. . . anyhow, I've been able to quickly get the visuals back on track, with a few exceptions - but the biggest hit was in the gameplay portions of the mod. Changes that were made to Cordon, Garbage and Agroprom smart terrains, camps, patrols, etc. all have to be re-done. I have a good memory for what was what, but it'll take time . . .

. . . I DO NOT intend to abandon this mod, though. The Lithuanian stubborness in me won't let that happen, lol. I've decided instead that my primary focus will be on the visuals, and to get that out to the community first; then I'll continue on with the gameplay changes.

Again, though, FS does take a back-seat priority to other projects, and I'm still working on all iterations of AAO . . . as well, I'm engaged in some side-work for some other high profile mods, which I feel take more of a priority to any other WIP I currently have going.

Hehe, nice to see you back in business man, and when i release Particle Paradise, i would recommend you to download it. As i will upload it in parts, you can separately DL the particles.xr, because i have made s snow storm effect which you can use. 3800 particles within a box of 1000 meters, with my old intel P4 processor, i get 60/90 FPS. So if you spawn a separate anomaly with that particle, no hit power, invisible on the radar, you have yourself a snow storm ;)

Thanks for the encouragement, and be assured I do not intend to abandon it. Progress is simply slow, especially with my focus on work for some other high-profile mods.

Not that a mean to sound cruel, but WHY DIDN'T YOU RECOVER THAT STUFF! Unless you overwrite data, you could recover all of it in a few minutes using free recovery software. All you do is press "RUN" and it will list every deleted file still on your system and then recover whatever you tell it to. (Something of a pet peeve of mine when projects loose tons of work and could've gotten it back. I recommend still trying to recover the stuff, although it might not work if it was awhile ago. However, depending on how much of your hard drive you've used, it could STILL be there)

Naw, most of it's gone . . . I did my typical OS re-install, which means I include a slow format of the drive. I was able to recover some of the work with certain merged mods, such as alive 1.6, progressive weapons, greedy trader repair, dynamic weather, sleeping bag, etc. It's not all at a loss. The biggest things I've lost were the changes to the weather configs, the dialogue text menus and the changes to the .spawn; so, I have to start over in those areas. It's not as bad as I initially thought, but it's still a major setback.
