joker_mx - Fortress Forever is NOT TF2, and doesn't pretend to be. FF is a steam recreation of TFC (Or, more accurately, TF1.5) in the same way that Black Mesa is a steam recreation of Half-Life. TF2 is the same basic gameplay, but a significantly different visual style, probably new abilities and balance changes, it won't be the same game.
and it looks like its for more of a serious type of gamer.

hmm took forever to load the map when I joined a server. Finally got in and then when the map switched it locked me up. Don't really want to bother with it if I'm gonna keep locking up. Was this just a server problem or a known bug?
AWESOMMEEE! been checkin in on this mod every so often for a while now. I was a actually a little annoyed when valve announced TF2.. being pretty much TFC, when it was originaly going to be a completely different mechanic.
Still... this is a must download..

I had the same, but it happens with a lot of source games lately. Not sure if its a prob with source or with my laptop but my laptop should be able to run source perfectly.
I will give it another shot. Just curious is it supposed to take that long for maps to load?
The load times are really bad for me too. :(
I often give negative feedback, but this mod is great.
Congrats on release. I'm not totally convinced it's an improvement on TFC (not as frantic, but that will probably appeal to other players) but the dev team at least added in some changes to it. FF is definitely not a straight port, the UI is particularly polished (apart from weaponselection still coming up for HUD_fastswitch) and it looks pretty easy to get into if you've never played a fortress game/mod before.
This mod rules, you can feel the TF 1.5 spirit
