3 Support Crawler Concepts for you to judge, review, and comment on.

Posted by on

Since the feedback on the Titan models went so well, C7 asked me to post up some screenshots of our support crawler concepts to see what the community thinks of the so far. The first is a GDI support crawler concept, and the last two are different models of the nod support crawler, sporting different modeling methods and poly counts. It should be obvious which one has more polys. Anyway, enjoy and let us know what you think!

Hey guys, while JPNyt was experimenting with our site (Tiberian-eclipse.sagefans.net) he made a cool background for the site, but it didn't work out so we are offering it as our third background check it out in the image section.

Now I can see them better!
The GDI Support CR (I hate to use that word) somewhat remembered me the Kodiak

The V1 NOD Support looks better than the V2 one.

GDI Crawler: I Like it Remind me of a Carryall. Little Suggestion but Maybe the GDI Support Crawler Should Have like Long Range Air to Ground Rockets... Like a Support Weapon?

Nod Crawler (V1): I like it Its Nice and Sleek. Might be Good To have it Fire Green Discs like the Banshee in TS But from a Turret Like the Scrin Battleship. (I forget the Names not to fond of scrin...)

lol. I actually had rockets on the aft section in the original concept. Removed by team-member request.

Do you mean the Scrin Devastator Warship? That might work too.

We got other ships too like the Stormrider & Planetary Assault Carrier (PAC for short).

The Nod crawler could use a little more detail, or maybe I'm just having trouble seeing it because the render's black.

It's obvious that the models aren't final. I'm sure they'll have much more detail later on.

Crawlers are our MCVs. Battleships or aircrafts will be different.

Personally I prefer Nod variation 1. And the GDI support Crawler idea is...interesting, although I don't have too much against it, seeing what it could become.

The Nod crawlers seem very flat and not that visually appealing to me. Nod vehicles tend to be thicker toward the rear. Like the TW MCV, the Scorpion tank, the 1st and 3rd generation of the flame tank.

Or could just be the angle of the image.

I like Variation 1 for Nod, less keen on the GDI crawler...

Ahh, now that GDI Support Crawler looks a lot better. :) Let's hope the deployed state looks good too rather than copying from each other's style like EA did with their deployed Crawlers.

As for the Nod ones, I kind of like the Variation 1, aerodynamically. ;) Variation 2 seems ok but it might be like the Firehawk's wings.

I'd say Nod v1, the GDI one looks great as-is!

I have problems to imagine the GDI Crawler as a model, so I cant say much about it -.-

The first Nod Crawler seems to have more details and is bigger than the second Crawler, so think the first one would be my choise...

All in all it is difficult to say somethin solid about the concepts, because they are too small though...

Yea, judging sizes is difficult with a screenshot unless you place something relevant next to them... like a pencil or soldier or dinosaur. The only issue I personally have is with the GDI crawler. I didnt notice until after I touched up the engines that they would suck any infantry/aircraft right off the helipads into the engine. No bueno. Trying to redesign to be more... realizable.

what are the black cylinders on the gdi support crawler? i also think that it should use more of a jet propulsion system over fans because a fan would never keep it afloat for something that size. in my opinion anyhow. and given that the kodiak itself always used jets it just seems to make more sense. once concept i liked in the cnc 4 support crawler model was how the engines were attached and how they moved and were positioned. as far as nod's go, i prefer the first model although personally i dont really like either models.

The GDI model is ok, jet propulsion would be better instead of propellers. The Kodiak is a good reference I agree but that was TS and is a good 40ish years before this game's time period. I'm sure technology has improved since then.

Nod... eh Var. 1 is a more refined version of Var. 2 but it looks way too flat. Yes Nod is about sleek units with a low profile but some definition and a little more bulk would do Var. 1 some good.

Maybe a very small Scrin technology influence could be added for both Crawlers. Human nature. I'm sure if we, in reality, shot down an alien craft governments would find a way to replicate and produce thier tech. Nod would seem more likely candidates to incorporate a small amount of Scrin propulsion systems than GDI. It's your guys call though.
