FHSW 0.61 released!

FHSW 0.61 has been released with the main goal of fixing a lot of bugs. But the devs also added a lot of new things, the highlight being the new map "Fall of Berlin" which recreates the final battle of World War II in Europe in a very convincing manner.

How to install?

This is a patch for FHSW 0.6 which is required to be installed. If you’re new to FHSW please follow the instructions of this guide.

Change log

I’ve tried to translate most of the changes from the Japanese dev blog, I can’t guarantee that everything is correct. The source is linked at the bottom of this news.

General

  • planes on aircraft carriers are locked into position until you move the elevator. This can be used to rev up the engine before take-off which is very helpful when the carrier is moving.
  • slightly increased anti-personnel damage of guns with caliber 57 mm and below
  • damage of tank HEAT ammo increased
  • fixed visual and audio issues of large caliber artillery shells
  • rockets with a caliber of 28 cm and above penetrate walls now
  • fixed a bug where the ammo selector wasn’t visible in some ships
  • fixed bugs with deployable mortar
  • the three machine gun variants of the deployable machine gun kits no longer share the same ammo pool to improve game stability
  • several kill log errors have been corrected
  • medic packs slowly regenerate itself now
  • fixed some animation bugs with infantry weapons

United States

  • M4A1 mortar carriage: fixed an issue where turning the vehicle with A/D keys was inverted
  • M16 MGMC: fixed an issue where the vehicle would damage itself while firing
  • B-25G: penetration and splash damage of the 75 mm gun increased
  • WACO glider: "brake rockets" adjusted

Great Britain

  • added Willys Jeep mounted with recoilless rifle RCL 3.45in Mk 1
  • damage of 17 pounder tank gun slightly increased
  • HMS Lion: network bugs fixed
  • special forces kit: now issued with Browning High Power
  • De Lisle: increased accuracy while crouching or proning

Germany

  • added Fa 223 "Drache": large helicopter with room for up to 7 people
  • added Borgward IV: radio controlled vehicle which can drop explosive charges

  • added Panzerjäger Wanze: Borgward IV chassis armed with a battery of six Panzerschreck rockets

  • added Jagdtiger Entwurf II: alternative design of the Jagdtiger with engine in the front and superstructure moved to the rear

  • added Jagdtiger (improved): proposed design with 12,8 cm L/66 gun
  • added K98 AT rifle grenade: power similar to Kampfpistole AT warhead but better aiming at long distances and longer reload time
  • added Faustpatrone 42: small disposable AT weapon, penetrates about 100 mm of armour

  • added MP 40: variant with increased rate of fire but lower accuracy
  • E-25: problems fixed where the tank would slip while standing still
  • PT16: durability increased
  • 2 cm Flak 38: gun sight changed
  • Fw 190 D-9: engine power slightly increased
  • He 111 Z: launch and control of the Hs 293 missile can be done from the second seat now
  • random infantry weapon kits revisited to improve game stability

Japan

  • added Type 2 20 mm AA gun: AA gun based on German Flak 38. It has a central fire-control system which lets you operate six guns at once.
  • late Yamato model and code revisited to reduce lag especially for the captain
  • Yokosuka D4Y: fixed a bug where the bombs could not be rearmed at airfields
  • Nakajima B6N: fixed self-repair function when gunner seat is occupied

Tfw theres a european server available but some will still rather complain than make any research. Making excuses with meme is so much more interesting isnt it?

@KaelaMenshaKhaine

You ask them to play online? Sure! But, don't expect their overall gameplay experience were similar to the ones who are very close to game server. In fact most of the time, the latter would take advantage their situation latency-wise.

Oh, a DIY game server? No prob, unless it had a very good PR to boot and lucky enough to invite at least one to join to play on a VERY HUGE map (Monster des Stahles for example).

From what I recall there is quite a good European server for the game http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/5.9.54.21:14567/ I am not sure but I think I have played it a bit and its still doing great. Why FH have maps with bot support while FHSW doesnt? Well maybe beacuse FH was created in times when Bf1942 was one of two available BF games and had quite a number of modders around and community was so big that their request for bots was more usefull in times where not everyone had internet connection suitable to play online? I have also noticed that You are quite hasty in calling FHSW team lazy for not adding bot support. Well I bet You are well experienced in process of adding bot support to maps if You assume that its so easy that only laziness is a factor so why wont You add it and upload it? FHSW team is from Japan and their servers are always full so adding bot support is just a waste of modding time dont You think?

This is one of the only 1942 mods without bot support, so its not like they have any good arguments left.

@Firelord475

In fact, there's FinnWars and Silent heroes (?) that does not have SP/Coop support. There's one attempt to include support for the former (FinnWars Singleplayer), although it still in beta were considered playable in my experience.

The original forgotten hope, battlefield 1918, and all of the other known mods at this level have bot support.

Even the addons for forgotten hope like the norweigon one had bots.

There is another SW style expansion for forgotten hope that even has bots.

@KaelaMenshaKhaine

Lazy? Well, that's your statement not mine. And not researching? Pfft, don't make me laugh as I play not just this mod but the entire Bf1942 community more longer than you!

FHSW had Coop support before v.042 and then they're discontinued supporting it in succeeding versions even today. My point is that adding Coop support is very low if not remove from FHSW devs' priority list.

For the record, I also joined on FHSW-Europ server 5 years ago then stopped due to latency issues. Inusaba or the previous FHSW Japanese server is still considered hit-or-miss for me despite my country's 1-hour timezone difference from Japan.

And you spoke from a European point of view (since you live very close to EU server), but what about those who live farther from those 2 servers like for example the Argies, Oz, or Kiwis? So, ignoring the rest in favor of one community on your backyard is not good doesn't it, considering the main game is a decade-and-a-half old and with online players dwindling if not on a rapid pace. And there's no guarantee the current master server (master.bf1942.sk) will last forever like what happpened to Gamespy.

As a gamer's PoV, I would like to play this mod even those what I stated above already discontinued and do not face the same fate as FinnWars when it can only join online once or twice a year coincide Finland's national holidays, and the game file/s were just placed on storage without using it for the rest of the year.

And BTW, you asking my coding or modding ability? Ad hominems? You've got some nerves huh?

Your researching skills are exceptional if You are able to tell that you "play entire BF1942 community more longer than me!" Thats too bad You havent used those skills to findout why theres no AI support. FHSW mod team already stated that its waste of time. If You really feel that You lose so much on not having those bots than add them on Your own.

@KaelaMenshaKhaine

And just WHO ARE YOU to tell me what I must do? Are you a part of Forgotten Hope Secret Weapon development team? If not, then YOU ARE by any means have NO RIGHT to dictate me or anybody else here what to do to our game clients either we play this mod online or offline!

And no, it's not my loss either, as they have lost a potential playerbase by ignoring a community's request not just me, but everybody else here SEVERAL TIMES.

No I am not a part of any modding team. Which doesnt make me forget how hard it is to do some stuff and there should be atleast a degree of thankfullness when someone offers You the fruits of his hard work for free. I see You can not be suggested what to do but if it comes to demanding someone to do some useless stuff for You for free while You already got some of it handed is ok. For me its enough, if You choose to complain and excuse and You feel that its getting You any closer to Your goal then I am just losing my time for You and this conversation is done for me.

@Rapied

Original FH maps are playable in SP/Coop mode IIRC. It's just a matter of "would" instead of "can" to the FHSW devs.

Well as the old says: If there's a will, there's a way. BUT, even today as in my observation, it's the exact opposite.

smh...
