Hey everyone,
Far Cry 2: Redux has been out for two months now, and is technically on its 10th revision due to different bugfixes - mostly bugs reported by the community!
In those two months, the mod has had over 33k views, and over 3.3k downloads! Today, I'm asking anyone who has played the mod for any significant amount of time to take a few minutes and leave a review.
Did you love it, hate it, or is it just a big meh? Do you have any suggestions? Let me know!
Thank you
Hello, I jave just downloaded your mod but I play Far Cry 2 almost like for the first time...
I wanted the best experience from this game I can get so according FC2's page on PCgamingWiki I immediately downloaded hunter's update and your Far Cry 2 redux mod.
If I can make some relevant review of your mod I will post it here. For now - just the description made this mod attractive and "must try".
In a meantime, I have some questions, if I can?
1) is possible to make changes to patch.dat and patch.fat from your mod with "Far Cry 2 Hash Decoder
Written by Wobatt" (WobFC2Dunia042)? I am a low sens player (so the sensitivity multiplier 0.8 in "mousefilter" is still too much for me) and also I have 100hz monitor so I changed FPS cap to 100 fps, what is much better for the game smoothnes in my case. But when decoder "decodes" your +/- 45MB patch.dat file and I make my changes to XML, the "build_patch.dat" makes a "patch.dat" with size only about 17 MB... Fot that time I concluded that making changes with this tool I could lost some handy and important modifications from you - is it true?
(ofc. the workaround for me was commandline options for FPS and tweaking mouse sensitivity in GamerProfile.xml...)
2) is "DX 10 cell phone bug" fixed in this mod?
a good way to test the integrity of your patch.dat file is to run a copy of it back through the bootstrap.bat process and you will notice that the 'original' directory that it produces, which contains the decompressed file structure is the correct size -- 43.3 MB being the latest as of 05-06-19
1. Yes, you are free to make any changes to this mod. That program compresses the patch file when it packs, so I think you're good to go!
2. That bug is directly related the your frame rate. I recommend hard capping your framerate at 60fps to prevent bugs like this. I know 100fps is much better on the eyes, but this engine was not designed for that framerate. At 100fps something will eventually break, which could corrupt your save.
This mod replaces my update mod. I don't recommend combining them.
Thank you!
Do you recommend running on DX10 or DX9? The problem with phone calls is according to PCgamingWiki caused by DX10 renderer. So just limiting on 60 fps should be fine for phone calls even on DX10?
Correct. I recommend DX10 hard capped at 60 + in game vsync. That's how I play this mod, and I never have the cell phone or bouncing enemy bug.
Yea bouncing enemy and the buddy bug is cause by uncapped FPS.
awesome mod, so happy someone was able to really tune into the game and make it so much better. my one thing, which i'm not even sure is feasable, is the fact the game had no radio/in-game music whatsoever to interact with, esp in the cars you can drive in. if it were possible to make this a possibility that would make this game.. can even try with this mix ;) Youtube.com
Agreed. You can't even hear the actual DJ in the area...
Unfortunately, this cannot be done without proper Dunia engine tools. The code would have to be created from scratch.
This mod is extremely good but do you think that it's possible to make nighttime darker?
Yes, but it's not easy to balance.
