It has been a long wait, but we are finally ready to bring you a new public version of Expanding Fronts, Featuring numerous new units, technologies, features, and an entirely new playable civilization!
NEW FEATURES
On top of the Zann, every existing civilization has been expanded with new units, buildings, and technologies.
Transport Mechs - Safely move your troops to and from the frontlines in these new armored ground vehicles.
Land Mines - New cloaked explosive traps stop enemy forces dead in their tracks.
Anti-Air Batteries - Clear the skies with devastating blankets of laser fire.
Interceptors - Establish air superiority using agile light fighters.
Attackers - Pour heavy anti-tank fire from the skies with these powerful aerial juggernauts.

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL
So, unbeknownst to us, we picked a very interesting day to release Expanding Fronts. As it just so happens, the planets have aligned, and our launch just so happens to coincide with Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds launching on Steam. Very unexpected, but very welcome and long overdue. Also of note is that SWGB, alongside a handful of other LucasArts classics is included in the latest Star Wars Humble Bundle. If you, or anyone you feel like conquering the galaxy with is missing it, there's no better time to grab it and EF! We'll see you on the Battlegrounds.
UNDER CONSTRUCTION
As much progress as we've made, we are still looking for additional hands to help put Expanding Fronts together. As you might see in the beta, we've had to use numerous placeholder units to fill the Zann infantry roster as we are still lacking infantry modelers and animators. If you have experience in 2D art, 3D art/animation, Random Map/AI scripting, or general editing experience with the AoK/SWGB Genie engine, and would like to contribute to the Expanding Fronts project, feel free to contact the project head Gen_Rhys_Dallows. Yay! It's finally out! Also, drat! I just got SWGB for GOC. Should I get it on Steam as well?
There isn't really a reason to. GOG already gave you a DRM-free, working edition, what more do you need? There's nothing new in the Steam release.
Sadly, users are reporting many problems with the functionality of SWGB's Steam release. Because Expanding Fronts uses a separate executable file from normal SWGB, it should hopefully negate any problems with the Steam version. This is unconfirmed, however, and results may not be reliable until our hotfix is out.
Which version of the game I need?
Steam? GOG? Retail?
Any of them should work.
But it doesnt, when i try to launch battlegrounds_x2.exe, game launches unmodded, even if i use configurator

How do i install it??
When playing a Standard game, I get this error:

line 305: ERR2005: Invalid identifier: rt-astromechs
Doesn't matter what factions I play with, all of them get this error in every game - and it breaks the AI so the game is unplayable. Any ideas?
Also, thank you so much for all the work you put into this mod! It's crazy cool and good to see there's still a lot of interest in this game! Crazy nostalgic.

I have doubts and questions :/ I've alredy installed and patched it, but I still can't use te factions :// was it deleated?? also there's a lot of units I can't find, Police N1, T-70 X wings, Zann's heroes, the Dark Trooper Fase 2 I see it like a rebel pilot, The new trees are just able in the Unit section, is that normal? Rebel Capital Ship's Yard are not able anymore?? :// is that a problem with the instalation or the release is like that??
Sub-factions have been removed, and some of the previously showcased units are not yet available in this release.
Do you have in mind to add them in a future release??

Alright I'm having a similar problem compared to some of those who commented here. I also cannot play the game with access to the mod even if I initialize it with battlegrounds_x2 or whatever. Tried to fix it in the configurator.exe but it's not saving. So how DO I play this thing? I also thank everyone involved in the production in this addon, very amazing.
Do you have the hotfix? Installing that should allow the configurator to save.
