Moving engines from UE2 to UE3 with the release of the UE2 code

Posted by on

Due to KF2 being announced I have decided I shall move this project over to KF2 as the UE3 engine is much more fit for things I have planned down the road, but do not fret with this move I shall be releasing the UE2 assets for anyone to use and or finish.

UE2 Assets:

These assets include the mod info, splash, textures, sounds, code and everything else that was currently being used

not trolling, but you should cancel the mod; the halo ce comunity is getting bigger because of the lastest patch

I don't really care, I'm doing this for my own amusement

Plus due to Microsoft being dicks the netcode for HaloPC will never be fixed

The netcode was optimized for 56k modems so things like projectiles, players, and everything "lag" behind (There is also a issue of certain things not syncing like switches, AI, and certain types of scripts) this requires leading in most things and makes melee near impossible, the netcode could be fixed by Kornman but the owners of the source restricted him from doing anything except fix a few things such as the master server

I was just thinking, wouldn't it make more sense to use UDK instead of UE3?, just means it's easier to make the game into a full release instead plus UDK is more up to date than UE3.

Yes but KF2's UE3 has better graphics features then UDK does

nop, kf2 uses ue4, not ue3, thats why it looks better

You seem heavily misinformed, KF2 does not use UE4, the devs themselves stated it uses UE3 that they modded

Actually there essentially the same graphics, the only difference is UDK allows more freedom to choose, etc... The only change in improvement is by running Dx11 instead of Dx9.

Plus there's alot more base code, KF2 would allow me to add a gametype such as flood invasion without needing to take forever to build up the gametype

I didn't play Halo PC online until I tried it a few years back, and the netcode is just absolutely horrible, so I was very happy to see this mod. :)

Yes that's part of the reason I'm doing this mod, plus you can do things in UE3 you couldn't in Halo PC such as online co-op and the ability to add new things without either outside apps or a new .map
