The Present
Salty Seabird Bay has been in development for well over a year now. Whooo, time flies fast!
Steam early access release is set on 1st of August. It's already good ol' fun. Last weeks we've been bravely adding features and ironing out bugs in our sweaty chamber.
So far the modes are Treasure Hunt, Avast Kraken, Quadtrouble and Salty Race.
Let's have a look:
In Treasure Hunt the one who digs up the biggest amount of treasure is the victor. Pick up a bomb or the treasure map to aid your hunt. Watch out for those damned beach crabs, though and don't drink too much grog while you're at it.
Avast Kraken is the survival of the fittest and the most scallywaggiest. The one who is last standing against the onslaught of the mighty Kraken wins. Pick up a barrel of black powder and send your fellow pirates to the depths before that Kraken even gets to them, that's what I'll say! Those vessels are trickier to steer than it looks by the way. Still a great fun.
We've added 29 cards to Quadtrouble the card game. Every card has it's own unique ability. You can even conquer your enemies with the Kraken or dig up a treasure to help you out with a Treasure Hunter card, inspired from the other modes.
In Salty Race it's a grand adventure on the high seas! You progress on the sea map, recruit crew members, buy goods, encounter events and try to be first to reach the goal post. You need to use your wit, cunning and bravery to win. Sometimes sacrifices need to be made and you might even end up in the Undersea Prison for a turn or two. (The sea-people accept the coin, but you can also choose to try to escape)
Each turn you will play a mini-game (chosen from the three earlier ones) and gain gold for your position.

The Future
We will continue to develop the game until we are satisfied with it for the full release.
There shall be two more mini-game modes. Can't say too much of them yet but next one is going to be very exciting: there is going to be steel, gunpowder and blood. Stay tuned!
