hello gamers and modders,
do anyone of you are able to report any problem with the mods you have already installed before steam update this month.
+are all your mods working correctly?
Those who know how we are working at DW and how we battled to make linear campaign happen in Dow DC again, also know that we pushed modding beyond any other mods out there because we have a couple of custom dlls mandatory to enable the custom linear campaign manager we are using for our Darkness Within Campaign, it also mean we may be the ony mod out there facing this problem.
our custom dlls interact with some of the game mechanisms in order to :
+clear the map list for any maps not present in the scenario/mp folder of Darkness Within,
+others are needed to enable data storage of variables (charchain, num value, boolean... ) outside of the player config lua file for use in latter subsequent or current missions
+others interact with the player placement on maps to ensure that player 1 is always the one present at starting location zero, a kind of "always fixed" starting location whatever you choose) (or not).....
IF steam block the execution of these custom dll THEN darkness Within wont be compatible with a Steam version of DC.
i don't know of people care or not, but this is going to be an issue for DC steam owners who try to play the mod in a near future.
furthermore, after last steam update for Dark Crusade, our main script Scar code is unable to start the mod and this is a big issue for future development of this project.
So before you make the steamjump check carefully what is going to happen.

nothing comes from Steam, no news no moves. I'm seriously considering to make a petition that will ask for clear modding support for Steam-DoW, we need tools to go on bring additional content for this game.
edit : November 2014 : Steam dev answered our call and things are moving...for the greater good !

there'isnt any news comring from Steamdev side, i don't even know if Gorb transmitted the message to Mr NOun (steam DoW community manager)

While I'd really like to see steam do what you say, it seems doubtful that they will. Their 'support' is frankly abysmal, with all actual help coming from other steam users and the games developers themselves. Steam is able to sell lots of games cheaply and conveniently but the trade off is poor customer service. This is my experience anyway, but Ill gladly sign a petition
if you know a good and serious petiton site on-line please share your thought and knowledge. i think DoW getting on steam is a good opportunity to revive modding for a 10yrs old game so lets tell Steam that we are legions !

Change.org is only accessible to your country,and it is dedicated to social cause more than futile things like modding , to be honest i would be a bit shamefull to put a petition for gamer on the same page as a petitoin to save the young girls abducted in Nigeria. thanks for the link nevertheless.

I came here from the Ultimate Apocalypse guys. I seriously didn't know this mod existing and after trying it myself I have to ask WHERE HAS IT BEEN ALL MY LIFE!?
