Here are some highlights of the interview Merrittgaming.com did with the Dodgeball dev team recently.

To start off the interview, give us a little information about yourself (name, how long you have been doing this, how long your team has been together, role played in organization, etc..).

I am the level designer commonly reffered to as -XSM-. I am also co-founder of the Dodgeball Source Mod. I studied Architecture and Game Design in college and have been designing levels for about 10 years. I started really focusing on it about 4 years ago. The Dodgeball Dev team was assembled about 3 months ago after finishing another project. We are a small team and consist of only 4 guys. We are good friends and work together in person just about every day. I am currently involved with Level Design, PR, and Gameplay Design for Dodgeball.

Give me a brief description of your modification and who came up with the idea?

Dodgeball is a full game conversion built on the Source Engine. The game has been designed (most importantly) to be fun. We want the experience to be hilarious, entertaining and competitive all at once. Dodgeball has a unique opportunity to fulfill these goals. Dodgeball is based on the playground sport of Dodgeball. We will however be adding some hilarious powerups and variety to the game never seen in any typical playground match. Steyrboy (Programmer and 3D modeler/Animator) and I came up with the idea. Actually, we were having a brainstorming session about our next project and Steyrboy brought up the fact that there are no really entertaining Dodgeball videogames out there. We decided on the spot to go ahead and dedicate ourselves to the project. We began work immediately and had the first Alpha build within 2 weeks of that conversation.
