Dev. Diary v0.5 - Changes & Intel Level Up Contest 2017

Hello everyone! Another week, another dev. diary. This one will be shorter than usual, there's a lot on our plate right now and we'll aim to have a big update ready for next week instead. We thought we had a hectic week building up to our milestone presentation, but little did we know we'd be taken by surprise by this one. Tomorrow is the deadline for Intel's Level Up Contest 2017 which we're aiming on having a demo ready for, which means we have a lot of crunching to do. But, we'll get there, and believe it or not, working overtime for something you love doing is a heck of a lot more fun than working a 9 to 5 job you've settled with. We're living our dreams!

But, it's not only because of this short deadline we're busy, we also took a lot of the feedback from the milestone presentation to heart as we mentioned in our last dev. diary, and we've changed direction towards a more puzzle oriented game and slowed down the pace of the gameplay as well as the speed of the character. This means we've had to redesign a lot of the challenges in the game and we've also developed a few new pillars that behave differently to introduce more variability. We're tackling a lot of the bugs that come with new implementations as we're going a long and together with a crunch it means a lot of work.

We do have something fun to show you all, however! Two things even! We've got a site up where you can read the Story Serial we're running in its current entirety, we just released part 5 today and we'll keep updating it with the new parts as they come. Go give it a read!

The second thing is we now have destructible pillars in the game and the effect is pretty awesome to look at, we just love it.
