More good news for the modders out there with their eyes set on the world scale, Civilization IV is now supported by Desura. Which means developers will be able to upload and make available their works to the community surrounding Desura. Let's welcome Civilization IV and the flagship mods to Desura!

We are always looking for more fantastic mods to support over the service, if you know of a mod or are apart of a mod that you think needs to be on Desura let us know support@indiedb.com and we will do our best to get it ready, even if we do not support the game the mod is currently for let us know either way.
Update Jun 25th, 2011
A larger amount of mods for Civilization IV is currently supported.
To list them all, some prominent total conversion mods such as Planetfall (a take on creating an Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri's sequel), Dune Wars and Rise from Erebus, as well as smaller ones (Hundred Years' War) and those striving to create a feel of "unofficial expansion packs" - Legends of Revolution, Rise of Mankind: A New Dawn, The Ancient Mediterranean and Thomas' War.
I didn't even know about Realism Invictus.. but suffice to say impressive mod. I'm glad Desura is creating better awareness of mods over what steam presently offers- more of reason to use Desura IMO. Good work.
Thanks for appreciating our work!
We intend to continue supporting our mod both on CFC and here, on ModDB and Desura.
CivFanatics provides a way more impressive selection of mods, leaderheads, graphic changes and other things for Civ 4. Realism Invictus is probably the best Civ 4 mod out there though.
Civfanatics.com is an awesome site your right. We are just trying to make an installer for mods, that makes it easy to install, patch and play the best.
We will get in touch with CivFanatics to see if we can work together to help get more great CIV mods on Desura.
I think that's a wonderful idea, collaborating with CivFanatics would be a great way to get them to stop using their existing methods for distribution. If you've ever tried to make your own compilation of mods you'll understand then how much bloody trouble it is to track everything you need down and ensure its compatible with each other. I think a lot of mods use Filefront, Rapidshare and MegaUpload for this, so getting them on Desura would be awesome because I hate RapidShare and Megaupload. Filefront doesn't have enough details about the files you're downloading- but its a great service. That said when you download, you're pretty much blind as to if it'll work or not- and you thus have to rely on CivFanatics forums for that info.
Will it be PC-only or crossplatform?
When it comes to Civ 4 in particular, mods don't work for Mac as Civ 4 for Mac doesn't work with custom gamecore.dll, which is pretty much required for most major mods.
Still waiting for C&C Games support ;)
Just got Civ IV, so this is great news for me!
