The demon in the video above is toying with the player, he knows he can't be flanked and quickly pins the player down. The demon is seen to set fire to objects, manipulate them in different ways with the ghost gun, a new weapon which can move objects in more of a ghostly/poltergeist way.
We have our first map produced as seen in the video, really needs to be seen in game to appreciate the detail and fine work put into it by the mapper :)
Lots of refinements have been made to the human teams weapons, there is now a really agile rocket launcher and rocket Cam mode, to remote control launched rockets around corners and through building. During play tests we had several players fire rockets flying around the map chasing each other through vents, car windows and through other small gaps.
Demons can spawn headcrabs (we call them petcrabs) with much greater ease with the left mouse button and right click to directly control their petcrab (possession footage seen in previous news), demons get one petcrab at a time they can save it by teleporting it back to themselfs. Still working on getting them to level up to an antlion sized creature. The testers have worked out a jumping method to make the headcrabs fly, don't have the heart to take away any fun, just got to work it in somehow. I can always shoot them down with a rocket.
New models for players, weapons and headcrabs desperately needed, it will be summer soon so hopefully lots of spare time for any modellers that want to join or donate models.

You certain can. The play testers have been shaping this mod up since day 2, I really appreciate their dedication and suggestions.
Our focus is less about boring bug finding (we're tracking most of them), but more about how can we make this game even more fun.

This is cool, but i have to disagree with originality, as this is used in metro 2033.
I would say the deathmatch mod as a whole is original, the demon team also demonically possess other creatures and players too, so its not all about the shadows :)
Its interesting to hear about other games using projected flashlight shadows to indicate the presence of invisible entitys, I was not aware of that. Thanks for the comment!

well, hidden source doesn't have a guy running around with demonic power that setting things on flame, throwing headcrabs at you and completely invisible :)
Cool mod with high potectial, what i'd like to see is some new weapons which are both futuristic and old like a special magnum or a double-barrelled shotgun.

Looks like a good concept, although I hope you get rid of the HL2 aspects of it. E.g. the weapons and settings, maybe changing the "petcrab" to a shadow creature or something really screwed up.

OB required, the demon effects are dynamic shadows too.

Never played Metro, can you possess/control other players with critical health, possess/control demon pets and only been seen with a flashlight in Metro?
This has a lot of potential - do you have anywhere I could join in some discussion, and have some input? You've got my head swimming with ideas - like a time-cycle that swaps darkness and light akin to day and night, the goal being to survive the nights against the poltergeist while he cannot exist during the day, except in dark places.
Varied objectives, such as car keys, medical supplies, vital repairs that force players to randomly attend different areas outside their comfort zone, traversing areas ideal for ambush..
