Post news Report RSS Crysis of Cthulhu - Map System Demonstration

We have gone to great lengths to ensure our game has an intense atmosphere suitable to HP Lovecraft's visions. One of the ways to achieve this is our cool new map system. The system achieves this level of atmosphere by keeping the player in the game at even when looking at the map.

One of the biggest complaints I have when it comes to games is the way maps are presented. First off most developers just consider maps another means to an end. This can be adequate for most games, but interesting takes on traditional maps can be amazing. Resulting in some innovative content that can make the game that much better.

We have gone to great lengths to ensure our game has an intense atmosphere suitable to HP Lovecraft's visions. One of the ways to achieve this is our cool new map system. The system achieves this level of atmosphere by keeping the player in the game at even when looking at the map. This means that the player is not safe even when viewing the map. Cthulhu's influence will be able to reach you at all times.

Pressing "N" zooms the map in and allows the mouse to be used to pan around viewing the details. The map will keep track of the player's progress yet still be realistic in presentation. This means the map will become "filled out" as the player explores. Pressing "N" also brings up the map quickly so that the player can orient on the fly.

Hope you enjoyed this look into our new content. We have been hard at work and have more to come.

What about putting the map away would you want to see that animation every time also? We have to draw the line somewhere and we feel this is a good compromise.
