So, we wrote late 2010 / early 2011. Homegrown Games, the small Austrian Indie team that has brought suffering to the world with the technically inferior "Anderson & the Legacy of Cthulhu" in 2007 (which was however the first commercial world-wide-on-the-shelves-release of an FPSC created game ) and was forced by the evil publisher to release a buggy "Painkiller Resurrection" at early Beta stage, was prototyping around the Sequel to Anderson, after some tryouts with CRY 3 they stucked to Unreal 3 and were pretty happy with that. The playable version for pitching was done and looked promising, in early 2011 the exhausting process of proposing to publishers should have begun.
Curious, what is going on, I surfed back to our roots and visited the TGC boards again - where I learned about bonds great filmgrainshader and the scariest game contest.
Together with my girlfriend I prototyped a quick and dirty level based upon a crude story that had been going around in my head for several years, basically a post-WWII and Modern Day scenario combined. It won the contest. The really weird thing was, that befriended game magazine editors and also the contacts within the industry (on the publisher side) were more interested in this one than in Anderson II. Imagine my shock - a Full-Scale-Unreal-3-Prototype, created by a whole team with some experienced Game Devs in almsot 2 years of work, was beaten on the market of interest (the only one that counts in the end) by an FPSC Level created as fun project by me and my GF.
Point Taken.
Now we develope a HUGE game based upon the roots of the contest version, but of course technically improved by lightyears. However, if you want to play the version that started this developement, I guess it will be approved soon for D / L ;)
