Kinda looks like a bad version of mount & blade. But very nice job guys. This is the kinda game, the world is running short of. We dont need anymore first person shooters. Kudos to you for trying something new and awesome.

Multiplayer? Finally, me and my friend can get a alternative to M&B.

Don't give him negative karma just because he has an opinion.

Anyway, I like how the game looks and I cant wait to play it :)
Oh, and also loved the Source mod too <3 ..good times..

Got to admit, so far it looks alot less tactical and skill orientated than the Source version was, but hey, this is Alpha.

Thats likely because for this teaser we just threw together a bunch of bots in an area and slashed away to show how hectic the combat can be. While fighting I was not attempting to kill my opponents, only create quick exchanges for display.

In a way I agree, in another way I don't, it's an alpha, but already the combat looks different from both what the mod was and Mount&Blade.

The animations just have a ... bad look somehow sometimes, but that was mostly before the frantic first person combat bit started then it looked great!

Previously this "sequel" of AoC never really peeked my interest, but this video got my interest, so definitely tracking, keep it up guys!

Was a big fan of the mod Age of Chivalry and this definitely looks like a much more attractive version. Will definitely keeping an eye out for a demo/free weekend *hint hint* to see what else is new. Congrats and keep up the great work.

Release on steam, i will buy. i promise that guys.

and btw i usually rage like you would not believe when i see source mod guys go retail ( i feel like their betraying the community.)

However this work is INCREDIBLY proffessional, and i had my doubts years ago when i first saw this game. but you guys really pulled this one along.

Great Job! and good luck!!

You really feel that way about modders? I mean I started modding 15 years ago and dedicated a hug chunk of the last 7 years to a massive project in the hopes that one day I'd be able to use the knowledge I picked up working as a modder and in the industry to start my own Indie Studio in the hopes of having the freedom to create games that I and my community wanted to play. In the last 15 years I never once earned a dime from modding and when it was offered I refused it as did the rest of the team at the time. I myself started up Monochrome LLC and have been working on Contagion a new game that I'm excited to see released and hope does well so that I can continue to do what I love.

When a developer decides to take the next step is he really betraying his community? Or those who would prefer that we just keep office jobs so we can afford to feed our family and work on mods in our free time. Who's betraying who?

I like to think that we're offering more to our community something that we can't offer as modders and any mod developer would know the limitations we're put under. I only say this because I believe it may help educate you to what some of us feel. Industry or Mod Developer, sometimes we just want to make games we love and not follow someone elses script and sometimes that requires we seek funding eventually to beef it up for ourselves and for our community.

Tat, I agree with you, but you've seen other posts of me speaking out about Indie mods, let me explain.

What I dislike about mods that go Indie, are mods that half-way finish, release, get people hyped up and promise more in the future, go silent for awhile, and then announce it's going Indie. I dislike that, that to me, is somewhat of a betrayal, think of what what you will.

I have no problem with a mod like Age of Chivalry, which finished it's mod, fixed bugs and added extra maps, and is now going Indie.

Contagion also looks to be awesome, because it's not ZP:S retail. The issue is alot of people feel like they were getting something for free, and as cliche as it says, made an emotional investment in such a thing, and then are suddenly told they have to pay. It does kinda make you reel abit.

Age of Chivlary was taken as far as it could be, and was well supported.

This is a upgraded version, new stuff added, it deserves to be retail.

My problem is with a mod like Curse for example, which released a single episode of it, then decides go to retail, while stringing people along for almost 2 years saying how he's going to release the next and it's awesome.

Also, alot of the mods that are going Indie these days claim they will never charge...but then suddenly, a few months later, that message has been removed and Indie is being announced.

I have no problem paying for this Indie game, as I feel the devs are fair and competent, and deserve the money.

But with a person like the maker of Curse, I feel as if he teased everyone with a piece of candy then took it away mid bite. AoC team let us eat a whole meal for free, then said they'd make us another meal at a later date, but it would cost, and since we knew the meal would be good, we would pay.

I'm not sure if I'm explaining myself correctly, I'm not that great with words and used way to many parables.

But in summary:

Dev who completes mod then goes retail: Good

Dev who releases a small snippet, hypes the community, then goes retail: Bad

All in my opinion though.

If I recall the developer behind Curse built it up as a demo to feel out whether pursuing it as a commercial title would be feasible. I really liked the demo and would love to play a complete game with story and updated quality content. Industry term is called a "Vertical Slice" but we all know it as a demo.

As long as they are all released on Desura it means I can download them all in one place! That's what I care about!

Well I wouldn't know that, none of his news posts up until the whole Indie one mentioned it, as far as I know, he said he was hard at work on the next Episode, and even set a release date once.

The people who bitch about modders going retail are usually A: Teens living with their parents and have never paid a bill in their life or B: Have never made a mod and have no idea how much time (and money) it takes to make one. People have every right to charge for their work regardless if they intended to or decided midway. This isn't ******* Communist Russia Mkilbride, contrary to popular belief, people ARE allowed to charge for their goods and services.

I never liked the chivalry mod it always felt abit horrible to play on source engine. This looks really amazing though i love the art-style and the combat seems to be a lot more fluid now.

Great work guys, tracking now :D can't wait to see more.

blood :O different from the mod that's for sure. but remember devs work on the netcode the most, that 50% of the gameplay.

Don't worry, we're not that stupid. Decapitation will absolutely be in the game and will get a full media feature later on in development.

The system requirements will be similar to that of other Unreal 3 Games. Crysis is very demanding, so you should be able to run it.

I am running our current build of it on:

Q6600 2.4 ghz Quad Core
4GB Ram
HD4870

Looks very sexy with my 2-3 year old system.

Ha ha ha. This looks very good and better graphics than that Skyrim game. You're an indie developer you say? I guess it's the gameplay that counts though.

I'm still butt-sore from the Dragon Age 2's "medieval combat" where your character literally does backflips wearing a 100 pound set of plate armor.... sigh. Fingers crossed you guys don't fall into that trap

The jump scene at the end was exaggerated for slow motion effect, you will be able to sprint attack on your opponents but we'll reel the height in some as we've had some feedback that it looked a bit much for plate armour.

Looking swish guys. looks like you just dropped your line in the pond and were all starting to bite.
Scenery wise the game is looking amazing although from what the video showed the gore was a little dissapointing.
Keep it up and you already have my preorder from what i have seen over these past few months

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote

The gore is disappointing at the moment, after all how can you claim to have a medieval battlefield without showing decapitation, bone deep injuries and battered, blood smothered warriors? Well, looks like we've got some work to do. Keep an eye out for our gore updates in the future :).
