Someone wrote: Bowing to pressure from a loud segment of players, Bioware has announced that changes are in the works for the controversial ending to role-playing smash Mass Effect 3. Details about those plans will be revealed next month.

In a post on the company's blog, Bioware co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka said the criticisms were "incredibly painful" to the team, which had hoped to please fans with the game.

"The passionate reaction of some of our most loyal players to the current endings in Mass Effect 3 is something that has genuinely surprised us," he wrote. "This is an issue we care about deeply, and we will respond to it in a fair and timely way. … Exec Producer Casey Hudson and the team are hard at work on a number of game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey."

The players who weren't happy with the ending of the game have been quite effective in voicing their displeasure. A 'Retake Mass Effect 3' Facebook page has amassed over 50,000 supporters, and an associated Twitter account has over 5,000 followers.

One player even complained to the Federal Trade Commission, saying the endings amounted to false advertising on Bioware and EA's part.

While Muzyka addressed the criticisms directly, he did note that the larger reaction to the game has been positive. The changes, he said, won't come at the artistic expense of the game. And he made it clear that the attacks that have accompanied the complaints will have to stop -- immediately.....

Someone wrote: BioWare has posted an FAQ on its blog further explaining the DLC content, coming this summer. You can read the full list here; some of the main points are:

* “The DLC will offer extended scenes that provide additional context and deeper insight to the conclusion of Commander Shepard’s journey.”
* There will be no more/different endings.
* BioWare is “expanding on the ending to Mass Effect 3 by creating additional cinematics and epilogue scenes to the existing ending sequences.”
* The DLC will always be free and available, even though the legalese has an expiration date on its free-ness of April 2014; it is expected sometime this summer.

After a month of increasingly vocal outcry about the ending of Mass Effect 3, BioWare has officially announced the DLC promised 2 weeks ago intended to provide ‘clarity’ and ‘closure’ to fans. Dubbed the Mass Effect™ 3: Extended Cut, the updated ending will be available via free DLC at an unspecified date this summer

If you got the Extended Cut after playing late into the game, be warned that the revised endings will only work if you installed it before you do the Cerberus Space Station Mission.
